My Day: A Day in the Life of a Mom and Her Daughter

Most mornings I wake up around 6 a.m. My internal alarm clock usually never fails. I like to rely on my senses to figure things out. For example, I peer outside at the sky to determine what time it is. And, I pay attention to the way I feel when I wake up to determine what type of day I will have. However, I glance across at the antique clock placed in the center of the oak-wood entertainment center to be certain.

My daughter is prepared for a modeling agency by the time I am done getting her ready for school. We make our way to the brick building where she attends classes, and she is quite the role model as she walks proudly towards the iron doors leading to the school's entrance. Georgia has some surprisingly Spring-like weather, but every once in a while, Jack Frost likes to come nipping at our noses. So with her coat tightly buttoned up to her neck and her pink mochila decorated with Dora containing her homework, she turns to wave goodbye. I proudly watch her walk off, wondering how long it will be and what type of woman she will have become before she leaves me and does the same for her own child.

Once I know my daughter is safe in class, I make my way to the small, brick house in which I reside. This is my starting point. As I place myself firmly on the multi-colored sofa with varying shades of beige and green in the living room facing the window, I look out at the oncoming cars and people trying to get to and from. I begin to write. Sometimes I write about the first thing that comes to mind. If I think I have a really interesting article or have discovered some information that will help improve or make people's lives easier in some way, I will begin to do some research. When I am out, I am always on the lookout for my next news story.

After helping my daughter with her homework, I call my oldest daughter (who is away for school) and my son to inquire about their day. Then I begin prepare our evening meal. I enjoy preparing exotic dishes and trying new recipe ideas and healthy alternatives. Later, I busy myself keeping up with the news and industry trends. Biaunca is hard at work playing and studying. After we are done, we prepare to start all over again.
