Frosted glass - also known as sea glass or beach glass - is a soft and subtle material for decorating around your home. It's the perfect table accessory when you want to bring a supple hint of color to your room. You can also use it on hooks, handles, knobs or finials. Its low-luster finish is an excellent choice when decorating with pastels or light color palettes. Here's what you can do with frosted beach glass in your home.
• Bottles and Accessories
If you are decorating a beach cottage, frosted beach glass may be just what you will need when it comes time to accessorize the bathroom. Jars, lotion bottles, toothbrush holders and water glasses will fit right into your decor with a light blue frosted finish that reminds us of clear blue water and sky on a soft summer day.
Pink, green or clear frosted glass accessories are equally as beautiful when displayed in a shabby chic decor; so bring it in and show it off wherever you need an attractive - yet understated glass vessel.
• Hooks, Handles and Knobs
One of my favorite uses of frosted glass is on knobs, hooks and handles - especially when you pair it with glass wall tile. Pick up the color from a subway or micro-tile backsplash and repeat it on cabinet handles and knobs. The twist is to use a frosted glass version of the color in your tiles. This will thread the color through the room, but introduce a new texture just for fun.
• Curtain Rods and Other Finials
Finials also take on a lovely muted tone when frosted. Bring them into your rooms on the end of curtain rods or on top of a lighting fixture with a new lamp finial. If you can't find a frosted glass finish in the color you need for your project, read on - you can create your own.
