Red is the most passionate, stimulating color of all. It will illicit strong emotional feelings of desire, including a desire to eat! That's why restaurants often decorate their dining room in red, and add the color to their advertisements; it encourages customers to come in and enjoy a meal. But this spicy color isn't just for commercial use. The color red is a dramatic choice for the kitchen, too. Here are several red-themed kitchen ideas for your home.
Italian Chef - He may not have a name, but the iconic Italian Chef is found in many red kitchens across the country. Dishtowels, kitchen rugs, artwork, and knick knacks, can all be found with this friendly guy as the feature.
Chili peppers - Hot chili peppers are the perfect complement to a red kitchen. Chili pepper wallpaper border, tile, and accessories are widely available virtually everywhere. Be careful, though -- there's so much color going on in this type of kitchen décor, you may want to stay away from solid red walls. A warm gold paint will accent the vibrant reds, oranges, and burnt ambers found in this spicy themed kitchen.
Apples - Add a country touch to the kitchen with apples. Red delicious, green, and gold apples can be found on wallpaper border, hand painted on ceramic tiles, and on a variety of different kitchen accents. Red is, of course, the perfect backdrop color for this themed kitchen idea.
Coca-Cola - If you enjoy collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, the kitchen is the perfect room to display them in. Decorating a red kitchen with this fun, colorful, theme is easy! All you need is red paint, black and white checkered curtains, and lots of Coca-Cola stuff. You can find Cocoa-Cola themed artwork, knick-knacks, kitchen appliances, and much more, in retail stores and online.
Strawberries - There are several ways to decorate a red kitchen with a strawberry theme. You can play down the red color on the walls by painting them a crisp white, and then throw lots of strawberry pattern and accessories into the room. Or, go bold with one red accent wall, and tile the kitchen backsplash in strawberry patterned tile. Incorporate red and white checkered prints, gingham, and other coordinating patterns to add texture.
Coffee - One of my absolute favorite kitchen decorating ideas is the coffee theme. Images of coffee mugs, coffee beans, and oversized wording of different coffee types are a great combination in a red kitchen. This theme can be used alone or in conjunction with a café kitchen.
50's Diner - A 50's diner kitchen is nostalgic, fresh, and a lot of fun to spend time in. With black and white checkered flooring, red vinyl seating, and chrome accents, you're just a few steps away from an exciting 50's diner theme. Add a few retro pictures, collectible tins, and, of course, some old-style ice cream and soda glasses.
Pizza - Have a family that REALLY loves their pizza? Why not decorate a red kitchen around their favorite food? With red as the primary color, and green, yellow, and white accent colors, you'll create a fun (and yummy) kitchen environment.
