I have a confession to make: My walls are bare. Butt naked bare. My husband and I recently moved into a new place and I refuse to give my old decorations another home to roost in. It's time for a change; it's time for something new! But I confess…I have no idea where to start. That's why I've enlisted the help of Phil Tracy, a home décor guru and HomeGoods spokesperson to give me the 411 on the hottest tips and spring decorating trends for 2012.
Your Bedroom Facelift
When you're redecorating your bedroom, Phi Tracey stresses that you want, "bedding and decorative pillows with pops of color or nature inspired patterns and prints- think whimsy!" He also adds, "Footboard stools or benches are very popular as well." And don't forget that your bedroom should be your haven. Phil suggests, "Bedrooms are a place to relax and rest, so if you have the room, put in a comfortable chair to read in."

According to Phil, "Bold colors are back and they are happily married to bright colors. Bright yellows, blues and orange (tangerine) - are very popular as well as pops of red in all variations." He also states that you should let your creative soul shine by adding, "decorative accessories such as owls, French inspired pillows, or animal prints which are still popular."

Bring a Bit of Whimsy into your Kitchen
As it turns out, the hottest kitchen trend involves bringing whimsical decorative accessories such as a rooster or bright decorative bowls as centerpieces into your kitchen to add a bit of flare to it. This, ladies, is the season of whimsy!

The One Room We All Forget: The Bathroom
Typically, I keep my bathroom pretty blank. According to Phil, that's typical of most households: "The bathroom is often the most forgotten room in the house when it comes to decorating... but it truly, is the easiest." If your looking for a specific color scheme that's hot right now, Phil suggests choosing, "calming colors such sea foam greens or pale blues." Additionally, bringing traditional outdoor décor inside is also hot trend for 2012. For your bathroom, Phil suggests, "adding a garden stool in a space corner or wall art to easily add color and character."

Phil also doesn't want you to forget that you shouldn't let a small decorating budget stop you. "The main advice I tell people is - you never need to spend a lot of money when decorating your home. Stores likes HomeGoods offer designer and brand home fashions at prices up to 60 percent less than department or specialty stores - so you don't have to worry about splurging."
