Detroit School Gets Incredible Contribution

Kyle Smitley really wants to make a difference in her hometown of Detroit. In September, the 28-year-old opened the Detroit Achievement Academy, a non-profit public school located in the city's poorest zip code. The school not only provides an excellent education for children from low-income families, it aims to teach students about healthy eating, recycling and giving back to the community.

Kyle and her fellow educator Danielle visited "Ellen" to talk about their school, but what they didn't expect was to be given a check from Shutterfly for $25,000 - immediately followed by another $25,000 donation!

Kyle and Danielle shared with Ellen's Good New Blog about how excited they were to be on the show, and how the money will truly benefit their students. Check it out!
