The "Friends" reunion is still awaiting a date, but in the meantime, three Irish musicians brilliantly revived the theme song.
Turning a peppy pop jam by The Rembrandts into an acoustic piano ballad, Glenn Murphy, Oisin O'Callaghan and Ronan Scolard covered possibly the greatest television anthem of all time, "I'll Be There for You," in perfect three-part harmony.
The video of their rendition was posted to YouTube Sunday, and has accumulated over 38,000 hits so far. According to his SoundCloud page, Ronan is a 23-year-old pianist, guitarist and singer from Dublin. He met his cohorts a year and a half ago at University College in Ireland, where they bonded over music and began recording cover songs, reports People.
Cut to the present: nostalgia combined with unique creative direction have made their latest work of art a viral success. While they've done Joni Mitchell, Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson in the past, the anthem of Central Perk stole the show.
YouTube user Rachel South wrote "Chills! Loving those harmonies! How long have you been singing together? I subscribed, I really hope that you guys add more covers."
"I never knew this song could sound so beautiful," commented user Claire Hourigan. "I got chills and they seem to be multiplying."
"You have a beautiful blend, I hope you make these more regularly, you're wonderful and could go places with this" says John McK.
We would like to request a cover of "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" please!
