This is what we call vision. With only a violin and a pedal board, musician David Wong covered Bastille's hit track "Pompeii," creating a symphonic masterpiece within the confines of his living room.
Wong begins by playing a single melody on the violin, which he then loops with his pedal board. He adds another phrase, and another, then carries the lead on his own.
The result is this:
The video was first posted to YouTube Tuesday, and soon after made the front page of Reddit. The reaction has been almost unanimously positive.
User Pharos EDM wrote, "Thank you, that was the most expressive musical instrument I have heard.... in quite some time. I loved it and my madre loved it also. So thank you for that wonderful gem of musical goodness!"
"Mind = blown," said aditya menon.
Scott Trenda added, "I've seen a ton of vocalist loop acts. Never would have crossed my mind that amazing things could be done on a loop with other instruments. Incredible! This is beautiful."
