The Verruckt Meg-A-Blaster is being built at Schlitterbahn park, and is set to open May 23, 2014 at the start of the park's season. "Verruckt" is German for insane, which is an apt description for this terrifying ride.
The waterslide is said to reach 17 stories, though officials are holding off giving an exact number until the ride's construction is complete this spring. It's promised to be even taller than the current world-record-holding slide, the 164-foot-high Kilimanjaro in Brazil.
For those brave enough to ride, they'll have to climb the 264 steps to the top of the tower. Then they'll sit in an inflatable raft meant to hold four passengers, and try not to lose their lunch while speeding over 65 miles per hour down the slide - and up over a five-story hill.
We're sure that Verruckt will bring a ton of business to the Kansas City waterpark as adrenaline junkies flock to the ride to happily take the vertigo-inducing plunge. For the rest of us, we'll be in the kiddie pool safely on the ground.
