Special Needs Student Scores Amazing 3-Point Shot

A special needs student became the MVP of an Arizona high school basketball team with one amazing three-pointer that came out of nowhere.

The Deer Valley High Skyhawks had a decent lead over their competitors at a recent game, and with time running out on the clock, decided to give team manager and special needs student Jose Meraz some time on the court.

The players made a play to pass the ball to Meraz so he had the opportunity to shoot a basket - an opportunity he used well. The student managed to sink a perfect three-point shot right before the buzzer. The entire gymnasium went wild with cheers, Merez's teammates storming the court to congratulate him. With his last-minute bucket, the Skyhawks walked away with a 77-37 victory.

His classmates were so impressed with his skills, they rallied on Twitter to get the video aired on ESPN, using the hashtag #GetJoseOnESPN.

It worked. The clip made the cut for "Top Ten Plays of the Night" on "SportsCenter." Way to go, Jose!
