Before you know it fall will replace the sultry days of summer. With the in-between weather comes the anxiety of transitioning your wardrobe. The following tips will allow you to stay fashionably warm, yet stretch those summer purchases into early fall.
Use a jacket - While the sight of coats still makes you sweat, investing in a chic jacket is the easiest way to carry summer essentials into fall. From leather to denim jackets, choices run the gamut; however, for an on-trend look try the military-inspired anorak jacket. The lightweight jacket in earthy shades complements the season and is a versatile pick for your dresses, jeans and shorts.
Cardigans: You can still wear summer outfits by incorporating a chunky cardigan. Great for layering, cardigans add the right amount of interest and drama to your outfit. Make a statement this year by opting for the bold and vibrant tribal print.
Colored denim- Your deep and muted-colored denim can be taken right from summer into fall. Rock the trend by pairing them with an over-sized grandpa sweater.
Play with tights - The return of the hosiery is the best news since sliced bread. Infuse fun and colors to your summer outfits by choosing patterned tights. Wear animal-printed tights with a solid summer dress for a fun playful look. Alternatively, use opaque tights with a printed dress or a skirt, . Although some people hate the shorts/tights combo, check out how this fashionista pairs the two together for an outfit that is seasonal and trendy.
Wear cropped pants - The cropped pants that played well during spring and summer can be extended to your fall wardrobe. Pair them with tops and sweaters that feature a more darker and muted fall palette.
Say hello to scarves - As the temperature dips, scarves become your best friend. Wrap chunky scarves loosely around your neck for that stylish and comfortable feel. When it comes to fall outfits, I prefer choosing scarves in hues that celebrate the season. Think earthy and jewel tones. For instance, spruce up a black and white summer dress by pairing it with a yellow scarf.
Boots, your true companion - Nothing screams fall more than a pair of chic boots. Use boots to style your dresses, skirts and jeans. Going with or without stockings is a personal preference. While choosing boots, make sure they complement the outfit. For instance, slouchy boots should be worn with a casual dress and closed ankle boots can be worm for a more formal setting.
Accessorize - Accessorizing is a great transitional technique during these in-between months. Along with scarves, think floppy hats, chunky jewelry and statement brooches.
