Preschool is a jungle.
Little ones don't really need backpacks for school, but it definitely makes them feel like big kids. Organic cotton backpacks by Mimi the Sardine are the perfect size for preschoolers and can carry a lunch, a sweater, and that small lovey for rough mornings on the playground. (US$38, Mimithesardine.com)

You may find yourself paying more than thirty dollars for a backpack, but you'll also avoid having to buy a new bag every year. Each bag listed in the slide show is durable and lightweight. But perhaps more important for mom and dad, the bags are easy to clean.
And before you purchase any backpack for your kids, make sure you review our tips to pick out the best school bag. You'll want to know what to look for in a backpack design so your kids don't hurt their backs at the expense of looking good.

Report Abusewell in some schools they have such a security problem that they don't allow students to carry backpacks or trapper keepers. Which i think is kinda ridiculous if not a regular backpack let the students carry around a mesh or see-through one.
and i think that when it comes to the older kids in middle school and high school they REALLY need a three ring binder.
also include:
three ring zipper pouch
highliter
2 sharpened pencils
2 black or blue pens
ruler
calculator
one unit eraser
plenty of paper
and dividers with color coded tabs
and even sheet protectors.
that way when you're child is looking for a pencil or last night's homework it is all there organized and labeled.

Report AbuseI've had the same Jansport backpack since freshman year. I'm about to start my senior year and it still going to be used. I love it! It's seen better days but Jansport is the best for you to buy for your children since they have big pockets for binders and books and smaller pockets for pencils etc.

Report AbuseIf you are looking for a super-duper quality backpack for college age, i would check out the newly-launched Altmont collection from Victorinox Swiss Army. Beautifully constructed, very well padded straps and laptop compartments, they offer backpacks, messengers, sling bags and more. In a choice of colors. Very Heavy Duty and mature looking, too. And a great lifetime warranty!

Report AbuseI found a great satchel for my daughter who is in college. This is a perfect alternative to a backpack. Functional, fashionable, and in very cool colors. Comes in different sizes for different needs. The one I got her is a 14 inch purple bag, big enough to carry her computer. These bags were created by a mother in England, looking for satchels her children saw in Harry Potter. They are a british classic that are popular with celebrities and stylists in the UK. And they get better looking with age. Finally, you dont have to buy something new every year. A great find and a great value! www.cambridgesatchel.co.uk. Ask for Julie and tell her Linda sent you....!
