Soft, Shiny Hair for Pennies? Yep, it's Possible!

I wouldn't call myself cheap (I've been known to splurge on items like these from time to time), but I do love a good bargain when I find one. Who doesn't!?

That's why I was so psyched to find out which drugstore conditioners TotalBeauty.com readers loved the most (because let's face it, there are some major duds out there, like these). Any of the ones on the list below will totally give you that fresh-from-the-salon sheen -- but won't cost you a ton of cash or force you to deal with a crazy hair dresser. Click on any of them below to see why readers love 'em.

I hate sounding so cheap but I love it when the drugstore's having a sale and the Herbal Essences products I use are $2.99!

I agree, $14.99 is not pennies. Pennies are those little copper coins that you always find on sidewalks. What your talking about are dollars which are the 6 inch green paper rectangles you keep in your wallet. Yes, compared to hair salon products, it is cheaper but it's still money.

Back to the products, I use Garnier Fructis triple moisture system (the shampoo, conditioner and the conditioner mask with apricot seeds that you leave in your hair for 3 minutes), and within a week, my hair was so shiny that it was ridiculous. It's made my hair so healthy, that it grows faster now and my split ends are gone. It took about two months, and I am in complete and utter love with the product.

That has to be a type-o. I usr Garnier Fructis and it is around $4-5. Maybe they accidently put a 1 in front of it?

It works great by the way. I love it.

Surely the $14.99 is a misprint. I know Garneir products are usually no more than $4 at most drug and discount stores.

Mia, thanks for your review about Garnier's Triple Moisture. I've been debating on trying it. I was going to try the conditioner mask, but the store was out of it.

I love the suave line. The humectant conditioner is only $1.97 at my Walmart. But I use the vibrant shine shampoo and conditioner. I have also seen that I have to switch up every few bottles, it seems like my hair gets immune to one kind of shampoo if I use it too long.

I've tried nearly all of these products at one time or another and none of them work for me. My hair like them for about a week and then it starts to protest by coming unruly, frizzy, and unmanageable. Maybe I have hostile hair. But for me, they are a waste of my pennies, because they are all cheap junk. I have to spend my money on better stuff. Bummer, but true...
