Satin Gloves

Taking off, toying with and tossing satin gloves is an art in itself. Get your budding burlesque starlet started with a pair of her own. If she didn't hold on to her old pair from prom (I admit it, I did), choose a few pairs in fiery red, sweet pink and deceptively innocent ivory so she can have a different look for each class or costume. They're only about ten bucks a pair, so you can spoil her without splurging too much.

One of the very best workouts of my life happened to involve taking off my clothes. I know, I know. My mother doesn't believe it either. But really, the burlesque classes involved a lot of cardio and killer floor work that made my legs shake, all from learning the beautiful but demanding basics of striptease. Sure, we wore heels and garters and nighties and boas (all over yoga pants and tank tops), but that was all just the coquettish topper to the intense exercise of it all.

Burlesque
is a bawdy but delicate art that requires more muscle and endurance than you'd ever think you'd get out of shimmying, rolling off stockings and, of course, the old bump and grind.  The best part is that it isn't just about toning and trimming your body, it is also an exercise in courage, empowerment and va-va-voom. And I have to admit, seeing my teacher's curvy, conditioned, strong body made me work harder to love the body I saw peeking out from under all those boa feathers in the mirror.

I celebrated my successes -- getting new choreography down or adding a few extra classes one week or practicing until I perfected one precise move -- by adding to the burlesque bag my teacher said was a must for all women with striptease sensibilities. She had a list of props she thought we should all start off with but encouraged us to have fun filling our burlesque bags with glittery, feathery, tassled delights that would make all that working out even more fun.

I'm ready to pull out my own burlesque bag again and get my body back into striptease shape. If you are ready to do the same or you know a woman who wants to turn up her fitness by taking off one satin glove at a time, why not fill up a burlesque bag this holiday season?

The bottom line is that an exercise in fishnets is a great way to kick off 2009 and these are ten great gifts to help her (or yourself) get going, most under thirty bucks.

This is great when you've become bored with the same old exercises as me. I should look into burlesgue.

These are GREAT items to have. I have taken a pole dancing class for a workout and it's one of the most intense workouts that I've done. Check out my experience at http://buzz.prevention.com/community/category/tawnee

I took pole dancing classes here and bought a stripper pole from this from Bliss so I could continue my pole lessons at home. My husband loves it when I install it to get my workout in!

you must think you are beautiful nomatter what sometimes even if u don't have a man get take a hot bath and afterward lie in the bed with lingerie on alone and admire the beauty of yourself you don't need a man to look good look good for yourself and when you start to feel good about yourself then you can expect someone else to feel good about you.

The greatest gift exchanges require thoughtfulness, listening, and really understanding who another person is and what they like and need—that's what I always strive for in giving and it's the only thing I hope for in receiving.
