What are Oprah’s "Favorite Things" of 2009? We’ll never know.

Many of us look forward to Oprah’s annual “Favorite Things” episode that airs every year around Thanksgiving. Well, as you may have noticed, the episode hasn’t aired this year, and it looks like no such episode was produced. "We have no plans this season for a 'Favorite Things,'" a Harpo employee told the Huffington Post.  After seven consecutive years of promoting and giving away items to her studio audience, there’s no word on why Oprah skipped the whole shebang this year.

Besides learning about what things really float Oprah’s boat, we’ve always loved watching the audience members completely freak out as they learn they will be the recipients of each and every items Oprah presents on her show. Over the years she’s given her "Favorite Things" to audiences full of teachers and hurricane Katrina volunteers.  The endorsements for the brands Oprah presents unquestionably helps their sales, so they happily donate several hundred units of their item for her to give away. The result: a studio audience that goes hilariously berserk.

During the recession, Oprah gave an economical twist to her "Favorite Things" episode, which wasn’t nearly as exciting to watch (every item was inexpensive or homemade and didn’t illicit quite the same shrieks and squeals from the audience), but was responsible and appropriate. For that we commended her. Perhaps with our fiscal climate still down from what it once was, Oprah couldn’t provide shiny new cars, digital cameras, and delectable treats for her audience members. But we still wish we could hear a list of what reasonably priced products she loves! After all, next holiday season will be the last for "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

Are you bummed that Oprah won’t be showing off her “Favorite Things” this year, or are you over all the hype surrounding her program? [Huff Post]

recession? bull--depression is what it is and still is. Shiny new car? Most people have to pay the taxes on those and gift taxes at that! Guess what? Money is tight enough without having to pay taxes on those gifts she gave away! Remember--audience is filmed, even though they may not be shown on t.v.--IRS can definately figure who owes what on all that expensive stuff.

Whatithink, I think after the whole "You get a car, you get a car!" show, she started paying all the taxes on the items she gives away...I don't think the audience has to pay anything now...

The question at hand is, "what is O's fav things of 09?" That's easy, you don't need her to air a whole show for that one. Let me have a crack it.

    1. Yo-yo dieting (remember the "elephant in the room interview"?)

    2. Possibility of producing new shows (In a recent interview, she said that she may have her own tv network on cable...no doubt it'll be called "eat the food network")

    3. Barack Osama Bin Laden (I seem to recall several shows in 2009 that were dedicated to our illegal immigrant so called "president")

NOW IF THE QUESTION WAS, WHAT WAS OPRAHS LEAST FAV THINGS OF 2009...

    1. Sarah Palin (I heard she was forced to interview the woman and not by choice, shortly after she announced her end with the Orca Winfrey Show...hmmm, I think there's a connection)

    2. Hugging Sarah Palin (it said she was thrown off and didn't expect for Sarah to hug her)

    3. Sarah Palin's book (I didn't hear her include her book in her queer book club..I'm sure Osama's made the list)

Good night folks and thanks! I'll be here all night, the laughs will continue to roll on this comedy train!
