User Post: 3 ways to convince your stubborn man to give yoga a try

If you love yoga but have a hard time "dragging" your boyfriend or husband to class, it might just work to tell him that NFL Pro Bowler Brian Jennings attributes the practice to saving his career. Proof be told, Jennings (who is the long snapper for the SF 49ers) took his first yoga class on a date and ever since has been hooked.  Following are three reasons why he loves the ancient practice (something you might want to share with your stubborn significant other)

1. Yoga is a positive way to spend time and energy.

Rather than sitting on the couch watching tv or playing video games Jennings preferred to spend his free time in a more productive way.  He found that yoga not only improved his health but caused a mental shift that enhanced his entire well being.

2.  Yoga helps the body recovery from injuries and prevent injuries

Prior to doing yoga, Jennings suffered a nagging right shoulder that he just couldn't seem to cure.  After countless physical therapy sessions and doctors appointments he finally saw improvement once he started yoga.   Today his shoulder is healthy, strong and mobile attributing yoga to keeping his body healthy and injury-free.

3.  Yoga is a way to connect with other people

Annoyed with too much social networking?  Since starting yoga four years ago, Jennings has become a certified yoga teacher, teaching classes during the off season at At One Yoga in Phoenix, Arizona.  Having made fantastic relationships in his training program and in and around the yoga studio, he says yoga is a great place to connect whether with friends or future like-minded business associates.

Brian Jennings is one of a rising number Spiritual Gangster people around the nation making spirit the guiding light.

That is so sad.....What would Jesus Do? Probably get out his mat and enjoy yoga. Just a guess, but are you planning a long vacation on a ranch in West Texas?

Anything that provides the body assistance and promotes complete wellness is a welcome. All to often my clients focus merely on one aspect of wellness, maybe exercise but not diet or vice versa. For complete wellness you need to help your overall wellness; emotionally, physically and of course financially. Yoga also adds a spiritual wellness along with the exercise benefit. I complement these endeavors and assist the body by also using Agel products, especially those that help with flexibility (FLX) and heart (HRT) packed with superfoods, but a good glass of wine doesn't hurt.

Dear Soonerman: What is your opinion on the Easter Bunny? A satanic false deity, no doubt. Actually, you are not a religious bigot because what you are criticizing has no relevance to religion. However, you do have a very small, frightened perspective on things which reveals your ignorance - a common characteristic of fundamentalist bible thumping people. You are our homegrown Taliban.

Yoga done for physical exercise is not wrong or will it ever be.

Do yoga and feel good. Bring God to yoga and you will feel even better.

If we don't believe that were worshipping "gods" in the act of yoga, then nothing is wrong with it, because these gods don't exist. Yoga has adapted it's way into our culture as an excercise, and is in fact a great one. The reason it was originally thought to be a way of worship is probably attributed to the physical and mental health it elevates. If you still think that there is something wrong with yoga in mordern society, then you my friend must think there are actually other gods that our worshipped in the act of yoga, whether you believe it is wrong or bad to worship them, the fact remains that you are accepting that there is more then one god. So leave people who are just trying to mantain good health alone, and chase after the disbelievers who worship false idols instead. People like you need to really stop and think over things before you start calling things evil and such. Instead, go after things that actually are evil, that harm life around us for no reason but personal pleasure or sacrifice to false gods. And try converting those who arn't evil and don't believe in the Lord. Not with predictions of punishment or eternal gifts, but with the love and kindness the lord offers them for prayer, belief, and good deeds. And all of this coming from an Atheist :D, you can start by converting me!

I reread his comment, this ignoramus first mentions the act of us opening up our souls to demons, then in the next statement says they do not exist. Unless he is a deep believer that although the gods are fake, demons do exist that can harm our soul during a stretching excercise? Because it is a stretching excercise - if we view it that way. If so, and this is a legitimate question, not the act of disproving you now, where do these demons originate? Does the bible mention false worship giving rise to demons? Because more then likely, the pagan worship is founded on made up gods, so of course it was the ideas of men that also spawned these demons. If you believe that, could not the ideas of men have spawned the gods they so dearly worshipped? I hope you read this, as a friendly conversationalist, not someone who is trying to disturb you, I await your opinion.

Oh, for instance, don't go saying it's evil to practice Yoga, tell people that the false gods of pagan religions are fake, and they need to realize Yoga is just relaxation and stretching, if anyone out there still believes in these gods. Sadly that is not enough to stop these people, so it would be interesting if you would state your case to them about why it is wrong. And be kind about it, how likely are you to stop them and even convert them if you are rudely arguing against there religion. I don't care whose right, how would it upset you if someone offensively called your religion fake, and your god false. Make it a friendly conversation, work on actually doing good for the Lord, not arguing with god. :D. I shouldn't go on about converstion, idk if your a priest.

My main point was, men do not create demons. Not that men can create Gods.

One thing Yahoo might try, stop presenting meditation as yoga. The man in the picture is meditating, he is not doing yoga. Careless representations like this help to mystify yoga and confuse people about what it is.
