J.Crew wrap-front swimsuit, $80

Yes, it's a little pricey, but it's also one of the most perfect marriages of coverage and sexiness I've ever seen.

Are you heading to the beach this weekend? We are! Will the rain let up long enough so we can get a drop of Vitamin D? Who knows? We're bringing Uno and an umbrella just in case, along with all of the stylish stuff in this slideshow.

Have a great July 4th, everybody!

Not a bad article, but please Shine authors and editors, will you STOP recommending flip flops to your unsuspecting readers! I will admit, the style shown in the article is cute, but they have absolutely no arch support...totally flat! Podiatrists in this area (Houston TX, where the temperature has frequently been in triple digits this last month) are loving it, but those who insist on flops as a way of life are going to regret it. I am not an alarmist, by any means. I spend a lot of time in the sun (with sunscreen +30 spf, the dual protection variety, the whole schmear, and still get tan. What can I say? I love the water!). I don't use anti-aging cr-, I mean products. I detest vegetables and I still eat red meat, occasionally. But flops, flat, loose fitting, sloppy flops, will destroy your feet, legs and even your back. There are so many adorable, comfortable sandals that offer support (not "old lady" sandals, I don't GO there), that fit correctly and stay on, that aren't a health hazard and are still comfortable, why ruin your bod? I am a certified shoe freak, my favorites are Doc Martens, Tevas, Betsey Johnson, Miss Sixty and Carlos Santana, not musty, dull, sensible, boring shoes. I like colors, splash, fun. Flops are an evil plot to make women hurt and look bad. Save yourselves.
