How Your Microwave Can Save Thanksgiving


We'd like to let you in on a little secret: The microwave can play an important role in Thanksgiving dinner--especially when it comes to potatoes.

The humble starch is an essential part of the holidays. They're satisfying, they taste great with everything else on the Thanksgiving plate, and what's better with gravy?

More importantly, potato dishes can be a saving grace for a busy cook.

Many of our 24 Favorite Thanksgiving Potatoes Recipes can be made ahead of time and reheated, but oven space is always at a premium on the big day. Solution: Make the potatoes a couple of hours ahead, let them stand at room temperature until dinnertime, then pop them in the microwave (in a microwave-safe serving dish) and reheat in two-to three-minute intervals until hot.
