From TV to real-life: Where to find Mad Men-inspired fashion

In this, our sixth episode of the Thread, we're going crazy for the glamorous, early-'60s style depicted on the amazing show Mad Men. Take a look...

Mad Men, the Golden Globe Award winning drama from AMC, has 17 Emmy nominations this year. (What a way to kick off the second season!) It's no surprise to us: The show has spectacular, strong female characters and incredible costumes, and it didn't take long for its influence to hit the fashion industry in a big way. We've highlighted two of our favorite, easy-to-pull-off looks from this season: The "wiggle dress" and the "full skirt".

Thefirst wiggle dress in dark blue satin is from Donna Rico and sells for $158.00 My personal favorite was this rich brown example with the bolero jacket, it's from Eliza J for $148.00 (available at Macy's stores). And wasn't the contemporary red wiggle dress from Macy's a great option too? It's Central Park West for $78.00 (also available at Macy's stores)

Full skirts are perfect if you're not comfortable with the form fitting wiggle dress because shape is so forgiving. The black satin full skirt is from DKNY C and sells for $99.00. The plaid wool full skirt is from Zara for $59.00 (that's a fantastic price because that skirt feels very expensive). And that black cotton modern version of the full skirt is 29.90 from H&M (available at H&M stores).

We got so caught up in Mad Men fashions this week that we chose a form-fitting David Meister red dress for me to wear in the opening moment of the segment. It's from Lord and Taylor and sells for $119, and the shoes are by Nine West.

And check out our "Ageless Beauty" Countdown featuring Jacquelyn Smith, Sandra Bullock and Debra Messing.

Thanks for checking out The Thread. We'll be back again soon with a new episode counting down the top five jeans for fall.
