Where to find gorgeous summer scarves and the best Hollywood make-up secrets

I simply can’t remember an accessory trend more popular than this season’s summer scarf. Seriously, I even see some men wearing them! This episode is all about these lightweight neck wrappers. And, as a bonus, we have a few Hollywood makeup secrets for you too. Take a look...

The scarf has been around for thousands of years, which is pretty fascinating that something so ancient -- in terms of fashion -- is still in vogue today and being reinvented this season all over again. Maybe it’s because a scarf is really hard to fix with a time stamp. I’ve seen vintage scarves that are 60 years old that look like they just came out of the case at Saks. “The Summer Scarf” segment was fun to put together this week because all of us here at The Thread keep at least two (or more) at our desks!

Here are the details from today’s episode: I wore two Tolani scarves -- one in a Zig Zag print and the other in a mauve color. Both are handmade and cost $85 each. We found a $20 summer scarf at Urban Outfitters for $20, and a shockingly low priced H&M summer scarf for $12.90 (which is, now, unfortunately sold out at H&M stores, though similar styles are available).

We shoot “The Thread” in Times Square, in the heart of the Broadway theater district. So it was a thrill to have Heather Parcells from “A Chorus Line” in our studio this week. She was so sweet to let our celebrity make-up artist Robin Narvaez demonstrate some make-up tips on her. Heather loved the quick daytime look she got from the Olay Definity Color Recapture and was ready for auditions in seconds flat! And a big thank you to Robin as well for sharing her secret of using Olay Foaming Moisturizer with SPF15 underneath her make-up applications.

Thanks for checking out The Thread. My dress today in the opening segment was by Trina Turk. We'll be back again from our studio in Planet Hollywood soon with a new episode celebrating leggings, and we’ll have a guest in our studio who will show you how to get three very popular celebrity hair styles!

In the meantime, if there's anything you see that you'd like us to help you find, post some comments below or send me an email to sar_bernard@yahoo.com
