Who Has the Best Black Hair?

Lately, black hair has been a hot topic on the small screen AND the big screen.Whether they straighten, process, weave, bump it, extend it or wig it, they're all fabulous and they definitely have good, no— great—hair.  Tyra went wig-free for the season premiere of The Tyra Show. Famous wig-lover Wendy Williams gave us a tour inside her fabulous wig closet. This week, "Good Hair", Chris Rock's documentary about African American hair culture opens nation wide. The film came about after Rock's daughter Lola asked him "Daddy, why don't I have good hair?" Rock was inspired to find out why she'd ask such a question in the first place and filmed his exploration. Maya Angelou, Salt-N-Pepa, Eve, Nia Long, Raven-Symone, and Kerry Washington all make appearances in the film. And we're celebrating beautiful back hair with a gallery of our favorite leading ladies, including some who attended the "Good Hair" premiere.

Oprah Winfrey

Could the most powerful woman in media rule the kingdom without a fiercely curled coif and perfectly highlighted cheekbones? Probably. But she just looks so good doing it this way.

Most all of these styles/hairdos are not these natural ladies hair. They are just as you said-weaves, wigs and extentions or have been straightened. These women are very lovely though as is their "hair"

Sonia was obviously confused by the title. They mean the hairstyles of black women, not the hairstyles of black hair.

Doesn't she mean the white hairstyles of black women? Don't get me wrong I'm all for the hair extenstions too but I'm gonna be upfront about that. You wont hear me saying "my past shoulder length, F4/30 abnormally shiney, barbie doll like hair in my head is all natural, I just use good hair product".

Actually a lot of the weave hair you see in Indian so it would be the Indian hairstyles of black women. Who said these women aren't upfront about it? Should they wear a signn that says they have extensions? I guess the white women with extensions and wigs should do this also? And FYI: There are lots of black women with natural hair that goes beyond their shoulders.

The only issue I have is with the excelption of a few women pictured; all the other women's hair is clearly not their "real hair" so how does that count? I mean anyone can go get a weave or wig and have hair past their waist, but it's fake. I'd like to see a black woman with real beautiful natural black hair, whether it's an afro, kinky, curly, or naturally straight. That's the main problem with many black women everything on them is so fake;their hair, nails, eyelashes, etc..

Black women if God meant for you to have long hair; like Maybelline, "you wouldv'e been born with it".

Misty, some black women love and adore their hair, but there is nothing wrong with shaking things up and changing it. The whole point of the movie Good Hair was to highlight the different ways in which black women wear their hair, real (weaves can be real human hair as can wigs be) naturally curly (not kinky) or straight. Plus there are plenty of black women who wear their natural. And not only black women wear fake nails, hair, eyelashes and other "bodily parts and accessories". Why does no one say anything when a white woman tans to have a more "golden brown" complexion. Or why they go to extremes such as butt implants, and they too get hair extentions...God made everyone they way they are, hair type, complexion and all, but if you have the means to "improve" or drastically change your self why not, right?

I've heard a lot of things about our hair. As a young man,I heard these slangs about black hair.-Caintcha-don'tcha-cain't cha comb it-and don't cha try. Picky ninny hair,Kitchen and of course Nappy to name a few. The Curl in the late 70's were a blessing in disquise. It made your hair grow and all of those things above could be changed if you desired. Bring back the curl and sell special pillow cases. Don't worry about the grease-it's for our beautiful hair. Thanks-cha.
