Kelly Osbourne’s fashion tips for real women
editor
With every actress and
musician trying to enter the fashion and beauty arenas, it comes as
no surprise that Kelly Osbourne wanted a piece of the action. She
may not be a real "expert," but growing up in the
spotlight as the daughter of rocker Ozzy Osbourne while battling
weight issues and the evil fashion police, Kelly wanted to share
some style tips.
Her new book, "Fierce," reveals dressing and grooming
tips alongside some of the stars biggest fashion flubs. "Maybe
sharing some of my most embarrassing moments will help you avoid
one or two of your own," says Osbourne on
her website. A few of her
style rules:
- Invest in Spanx. The right underwear can make an outfit. It can
smooth your shape or hold you in all the right places. Big knickers
are not embarrassing - they're a bloody life saver!
- I don't think you have to spend a lot of money on a bag.
But pick one that shows off your personality. It's with you
come rain or shine.
- Don't squeeze your body into a size smaller because you
don't want to admit you're a 12 or 14. Wear the correct
size for your body shape. Squeezing into a pair of pants that are a
size too small will only make you have a muffin top.
We'd have to agree with all of those pointers, and are now
interested in reading more of what Kelly Osbourne has to say. Would
you be interested in her book? [

Yes ladies, PLEASE accept a larger size if muffin top is an issue. Cuz that's just nasty. No matter how big your top is. Muffin top is noooo good.

why is this called tips for REAL women? it should be for BIGGER women. all women are "real" women. i am a size four but i'm not about to invest in spanx. you should choose your words better.

Wow. No need to sound so harsh cabeach. If it doesn't apply to you, then why comment on it? Bigger women have a hard time with dressing themselves properly. They're real women too. Very few people are naturally a size four and weren't blessed with a high metabolism or good genetics or whatever it is that makes you a size four.

I agree with you cabeach89, I find it annoying that now "Real" women are all dealing with muffin tops and should invest in spanx. I am a real woman with curves size 4, but I eat healthy and excersize. So what is Kelly Osborne's advise going to do for me...oh yeah buy a cheap purse....ok!

Muffin top is not a cute way of saying fat rolls. Maybe we should start calling them fat rolls and women will stop showing them off. Because I'm tired of seeing them just because women can't admit to the size they are.
So what is a real woman? Is it a pseudo-empowering term for women who can't put down the chips? Just because you're naturally tall and thin means you're not real? I've never understood that term.

From what I've read and heard, spanx or similar products can actually be quite helpful to women of all shapes and sizes. They help smooth everything out when wearing sheer dresses or anything for that matter. And it could have to do with my shape, but even if I pick the thinest and most minimal gstring you can still see lines under dresses as such. But on the flip side, is it really that big of deal if people know I'm wearing underware? Most people do so its not exactly an uncommon thing.
And as far as buying a "cheap" bag, thats not what she said and is taking things out of context. She simply says you don't HAVE to spend boatloads on a purse but recommends buying one based on your personality instead of how many digits are on the price tag.
The article also doesn't say anything about these tips being applicable to EVERY person that reads them.

Those are tips for bigger women, not ''real'' women.
I'm tall, skinny and toned. Does that make me any less woman than I am?

when did we (as a society) become so overly sensitive and critical? if this article does not apply to you then move on. no need to get your size 4 panties in a bunch, ladies. yes, we are all "real women". would a quick round of "Kum-Bai-Yah" help you feel better? how about a hug?
