Exclusive beauty tutorial: Victoria’s Secret fall 2012 eye makeup runway look

Dramatic smoky eyes and the cat eye are some of the hottest makeup trends for fall 2012, and you can pull off this look for day and night. I love the high-drama eye look this season and recently had the chance to try out the new Victoria's Secret PRO makeup collection for fall. The VS PRO line is inspired by the season's top runway looks and includes my new favorite: the VS PRO Graphic Liner Pen, which creates a perfectly straight and seamless line very close to the lashes.

Check out the exclusive interview with Victoria's Secret makeup artist Polly Osmond and the video of the VS Supermodel eye look on model Bregje Heinen. I found it super easy to create this look at home and the new VS PRO 'Overnight Sensation' eye shadow quad is ideal for creating a more subtle smoky eye that can be worn by day!

The new Fall 2012 VS Makeup collection is now available in stores and online. Here's what you'll need to create the look:

VS PRO Light FX Eye-Brightening Pen - a highlighter and concealer that masks dark circles and gives you that wide-eyed look in a flash. This pen is loaded with a luminous Diamond Powder that diffuses light to create a natural finish.

VS PRO Lasting FX Eye Shadow Primer - a lightweight base to prepare your lids for powder or cream shadows. If your eye shadow tends to crease or crackle within a few hours, use this primer to create a smooth and flawless finish that lasts.

VS PRO Eye Shadow Quad in Overnight Sensation (now available in Victoria's Secret stores) - four coordinating shadows with a smoky purple and shimmering beige shade. These colors are very easy to layer with. Apply them wet or dry for an amplified or more subtle look.

VS PRO Graphic Liner Pen - ideal for those with unsteady hands, this pen works like a marker and has an ultra-fine tip to create a seamless line and smooth finish.

VS PRO Volume Lift Mascara - an amplifying and volumizing mascara in a rich, velvety color. This mascara has a tapered brush so it really gets those tiny lashes and helps to separate and define as you go.

VS Supermodel Smoky Eye for Fall

Step 1: Prep the area. Use the VS PRO Light FX Eye-Brightening Pen under the eyes to smooth out the skin. The product just glides on and creates a very subtle but luminous finish. Apply a thin layer of the VS PRO Lasting FX Eye Shadow Primer on the entire lid.

Step 2: Apply the base shadow.

Add some of the shimmering beige color from the VS PRO Overnight Sensation Eye Shadow Quad to a brush and cover the entire lid and crease with color.

Step 3: Apply the purple shade to the lids.

Cover only the lid with a generous sweep of the shimmering purple shade in the quad. I used two layers of this color to create a more dramatic effect.

    Step 4: Blend the colors.

Lightly blend the colors on your lids and extend a little color out to the corner of your eye to create more depth.

Step 5: Create the smoky effect.

Use the darkest shade in the quad to create a thick line along the crease. This line doesn't have to be perfect - you'll be blending it in fairly well in the next step.

Step 6: Smooth out the smoky shade.

Use a brush to blend the purple and darker shade along the crease to create a smoky effect. You should be able to see only a slight gradient of color from purple to grey on the lid when you're done.

Step 7: Highlight the brow bone.

Use the lightest shade in the quad to highlight the area above the crease to the brow bone. I used a small angled brush to sweep this color all over this area. This has a lot of shimmer in it, so take your time to add layers!

    Step 8: Line the eyes.

Use the VS PRO Graphic Liner Pen to create a super-fine line along the upper lid. I lined both the upper and lower lids for this look. You can keep adding more color and make the line thicker for a more dramatic effect. Extend the line out and up to create the classic cat-eye.

    Step 9: Amplify the lashes.

Use at least two layers of the VS PRO Volume Lift Mascara to lift and lengthen your lashes. Zig-zag the color onto your lashes to avoid clumps. Since this mascara has a tapered brush, it will separate even tiny hairs as you go - a big plus - so you can just keep loading as much color as you want for thicker, high-volume lashes.
