Court cold weather in fragrant fashion with these alluring perfumes
Love, Chloé
Concocted by perfumers Louise Turner and Nathalie Cetto-Gracia, Love, Chloé is a powdery floral like Chloé's titular scent only with an updated composition. A bouquet of orange blossom, iris, lilac, hyacinth, and wisteria, the scent is grounded in earthy almond and vanilla and topped with notes of musk, talc, and rice powder. Available now at Saks Fifth Avenue, the eau de parfum will have wider distribution beginning in February 2011.
Byredo Accord Oud
Creative director Ben Gordon of Byredo Parfums is on a roll! M/Mink, a tattoo-ink-inspired collaboration between Gordon and M/M Paris is hitting Barney's any day now-and a new duo, Oud Accord (shown at left) and Oud Immortel, is set to debut November 15. Created around oud-an ancient wood used in Indian incense and perfume-Accord is the more feminine of the two, with top notes of blackberry, saffron, and rum, heart notes of leather accord and clary sage, and base notes of patchouli and powdery musks.
Christina Aguilera and Christina Aguilera By Night
To coincide with the November release of her movie, Burlesque, Christina Aguilera is introducing two new scents-and they smell anything but "dirrty." While the signature eau de toilette is a light, fruity floral with notes of peony and jasmine, By Night fuses heady vanilla, amber, peach, and May blossom. Look for both at Kohl's stores nationwide next month.
Acqua di Parma Magnolia Nobile (Limited Edition Bottle)
In celebrating the first anniversary of Magnolia Nobile, Acqua di Parma has encased the popular perfume in a limited-edition bottle inspired by the Art Deco era. With magnolia flowers silk screened onto the sides in pure gold, the keepsake can be found at Barneys New York, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Holt Renfrew stores.
Kilian Love & Tears, Surrender
The final fragrance in perfumer Kilian Hennessy's Love collection is not to be missed. Launched last month, the intoxicating jasmine-based scent is accented by bergamot, orange blossom, and ylang ylang. According to Hennnessy, the concoction is the most complex of the quartet because it represents the complexity of emotions that one experiences in a loving relationship. "It's the idea that there is both laughter and tears," he says.
Bond No. 9 Washington Square
Named for New York City's famous park space, Washington Square arrives in stores November 1. With a rendering of the square's famous Arc de Triomphe-style landmark emblazoned on its bottle, the encompassed fragrance pairs purple rose with tarragon, vetiver, and leather accord.
Space NK Laughter Nuit
A sultrier version of Laughter, Laughter Nuit is a musky scent with layers of grapefruit, bergamot, violet, saffron, and cinnamon. One spray and you'll be transported to a balmy, romantic evening in Morocco-the geographical inspiration for the scent.
Ineke Gilded Lily
The creation of classically-trained perfumer Ineke Rühland, the new Gilded Lily is crafted around the Japanese goldband lily with top notes of pineapple and rhubarb and base notes of patchouli, oakmoss and amber. Rühland was inspired to produce the perfume after planting the Asian flower in her garden.
Dior J'Adore L'Or
A Nordstrom exclusive, J'Adore L'Or just launched and is the oriental interpretation of Dior's classic J'Adore scent. With delectable traces of Rose de Mai, Jasmine de Grasse, and vanilla absolutes, the eau de parfum provides a unique twist on the original.
Vera Wang Anniversary
To commemorate her fashion house's 20th anniversary, Vera Wang has debuted the appropriately titled fragrance. Revolving around the feelings of love and happiness that go with special occasions, Anniversary is a woody floral with middle notes of white gardenia, rose, and orange blossoms and base notes of musk, orris, amber, and cedarwood.
