Fashion Trends that May Not Be Suitable for You

Seasonal Trends to Be Wary Of

With each trend there's an emergence of shoppers to buy the newest styles hot on the market. Unfortunately, sometimes there may be a style you love but just can't get your mind around wearing it. Perhaps the style is a bit showy or the print is too bold for your personality and you're still wondering how others are wearing that style and feeling comfortable in it. In fact, there are many styles and trends to support each age group, style guru and avid shopper but it's important to look at the style and decide if it will be a fleeting thought after owning it for five minutes. This season's trends are no different with popularity in ruffles, crocheted clothing and hot pants. The real question is should you wear them? Here are some reasons why these specific styles may be up-in-the-air for you.

    Ruffles

Ruffles have hit the fashion scene in a big way and can be found on clothing starting with swimsuits to shirt collars to skirt hems and many other pieces. These soft flowing pieces of material can turn your average shirt into a flirty feminine top but it may not be a style that flatters your figure depending on your shape. An off the shoulder peasant top with overly large ruffles are a fun addition to your wardrobe but can create the illusion of much broader shoulders. In some cases this is a great effect but for those who already have broad shoulders it may not be the look you intended to create. The placement of ruffles play a huge role in accentuating areas of your body and in some cases it will only draw negative attention to them.

    Crocheted Clothing

Crocheted clothing hit the runway this season in designer lines such as Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana and Marni, as well as, shoe lines such as Charles David. These crocheted ensembles are inventive and going far beyond the traditional sweater. Designers have created dresses, accessories such as earrings and undergarments in cottons and silks but are these items practical for everyday wear? With the high price tag for items such as these remember that cleaning crocheted clothing can be costly and time consuming, especially if you plan to wash your dress by hand. Falling in love with it on the runway may be seen in a very different perspective when you get it home and suddenly feel like a doilie.

    Hot Pants

Throughout the pages of many catalogs and clothing sites "hot pants" or what is considered to be short-shorts are a summer must have item. Although this style looks lovely on a set of long legs it's not as well suited for shorter or fuller figured women. This is not to say you shouldn't wear them but you should definitely try a pair on before making your purchase. Depending on the fit it may accentuate the tops of your thighs and derriere which is often problematic for many women in the first place. Not only is there a chance of the fit not being what you're looking for the length but can cause rubbing on the inner thighs.
