We're Calling It: Spring 2014 Trends in the Making, Hallelujah, FLAT SHOES!
by Fawnia Soo Hoo
Along with maybe-office-friendly blazer vests, another hot trend we've spotted on the spring 2014 runways: flat shoes. (Don't tell high-heel-loving Victoria Beckham, OK?) Costello Tagliapetra debuted their Brooklyn update to the luxurious leather Grecian sandal and paired the style with casual tailored separates and long, flowing gowns.
Ruffian doubled up on fun details with their pointy flats: polka dots and fringe. Aren't they adorable?

Boy by Band of Outsiders recalled the '90s by pairing socks with flat sandals on the runway. Off the runway, the socks are up to you, but the wide-ankle-strap lace-up style would be so versatile with shorts or a dress.
Speaking of the grunge era, we all know that Birkenstocks are back. Trina Turk debuted her line of shoes with her rock-luxe take on the Arizona--with metallic leather, grommets, and round studs.
Are you happy that flats are hot for spring? Or do you always wear them anyway?
