With yet another blizzard plowing its way across the country, we've come down with a serious case of the winter blahs. Our favorite way to kick them to the curb: Buy something bright and cheerful.
1. Statement-making tights
Sundress season is just a blip on the horizon, so spice up drab black and gray frocks with an unexpected pair of hose. For a real splurge, we particularly like these purple Missoni tights in the designer's trademark zig-zag ($147 at Nordstrom).

2. A bold red coat
Red coats pop out of the dreary sea of neutral pea coats and look particularly vibrant against white snow. Snap one up now, while they're on sale - like this Guess wool, military-style jacket, marked down 30 percent to ($99 at Nordstrom).

3. Bright lipstick
The lipstick economy theory - it claims that lip rouge prices spike when the market dips - holds true for a simple reason: Swiping a bold shade on your puckers is a speedy pick-me-up and easy way to feel like a put-together lady. The same tactic works in the dark of February, especially if you pick a vivid fuchsia, like NARS Funny Face ($24 at Sephora).
