3 Weird Ways Beer Makes You Hotter

Fun fact: 7 million liters of beer are consumed each year during Oktoberfest. That is a lot of beer. Now, you could be part of this stat -- binging away until you wind up with a beer belly and one of these disgusting dudes in your apartment -- or you could try a different approach.

Soaking your hair and skin in beer (which is filled with good-for-you ingredients like B vitamins and protein), can give you shiny strands and even clear up zits. All without a hangover the next morning. Who knew?

Proof that we're not insane: "beer spas" are popping up in countries like Germany and the Czech Republic. Hmm, sounds like something that belongs on this list of wacky beauty rituals.

Since we're major beer lovers, and we don't have a trip to the Czech Republic planned anytime soon, we had to try out some of these at-home beer recipes. They're the perfect way to use beer -- without actually drinking it. Happy Oktoberfest!

    Beer Hair Rinse

It's a proven fact: washing your hair with beer once a week makes it super soft and shiny, and supposedly even promotes hair growth. It's also a great alternative to using clarifying shampoo, as it removes stubborn buildup.

Combine 1 ounce of water, 1 ounce of beer, 2 teaspoons of vinegar, and a few drops of your favorite essential oil (to make it smell less like beer and more like your regular shampoo). Rub the solution through your hair and rinse it out. Just make sure it's at room temperature; ice-cold beer on your head doesn't sound like much fun.

    Beer Face Mask

Studies show that brewer's yeast -- an essential ingredient in beer -- can actually prevent acne breakouts. It slows down sebum production and kills off the bacteria that triggers acne. Using beer in your skincare routine not only moisturizes your skin, but it also helps get rid of blackheads and zits over time. And who wouldn't want that?

Combine 1 tablespoon of beer, 1 teaspoon of plain yogurt, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, and 1 egg white. Wet your face with warm water and apply the mask. Rinse off after 15 minutes for gorgeous, glowing skin. Click here for another at-home facial recipe to try.

    Beer Body Bath

In ancient Egypt, women would sit in tubs filled with beer to freshen their skin and reduce the risk of skin conditions like eczema. Since beer strengthens and moisturizes your skin, the next time you take a bath, do as the Egyptians did -- add a cup of your favorite brew to the water to get super soft skin ... and indulge without actually indulging.
