4 new ways to look gorgeous in photos!

http://media.zenfs.com/en-US/blogs/partner/kate_moss.jpgAugust is back-to-school time, so I thought this would also be a nice moment to take a refresher course in taking fabulous pictures. Even if you just want to update that Facebook profile pic or simply look better in those weekend snapshots with the girls, here are a couple of secrets from Kimara Ahnert, a makeup artist in New York City:

    1. Get a flawless face! If you have redness, you can skip the blush and simply apply a powder bronzer all over. Use a fan brush to dust an extra layer of bronzer along your cheekbones, nose and jawline. If you aren't prone to redness, tap on a cream-blushed, coral blush to the ball of your cheeks to create a pretty, dewy glow.
    2. Make your eyes stand out! Line the inside rim of your lower lash line with a white pencil, then sweep on shimmering shadow shades of champagne or gold all over your eyelids.
    3. Create fuller lips! Maximize your smile by applying a peachy lipstick, then dabbing an opalescent lip gloss to the center of your bottom lip. This trick will catch the light, making lips look luscious.
    4. And remember! No matter what, always have a pop of color in one place-either with your blush, lip color or eyeshadow tone. Now, say cheese!

Always look up a tad bit and remember to hold your chin in a neutral position, both of these tips hide slight double chins. And if you wear glasses, they will tell you to look down because of the glare--don't do it! Instead slide your glases down your nose just a bit and then look up so now you have no glare and no double chin!

I've heard that you're supposed to say 'hi' when getting your picture taken. Not cheese.

Another tip: NO MATTER WHAT THE PHOTOGRAPHERS TELL YOU, IF YOU DON'T LIKE YOUR TEETH, DON'T YOU DARE SHOW THEM OFF. You should see some yearbooks I have. There were some kids who shouldn't smile with their teeth.
There's another pet peeve I have with pictures. It doesn't have to do with makeup, but I want to get this in the public. Never wear shirts that have words on them on picture day. NEVER. Some of the writing is always cut off, and people looking at your picture won't be able to read it.

Hey V.H. those are good tips! I always try to take pictures with the camera slightly above me and never ever below me. They always look so much more flattering. When the camera is below you, you always get weird double chins. Yuck!

Pulling your neck slightly out in photos works beautifully. Its something you have to practice so that you can get the right look. And blue plain tops is beautiful on pictures.
