    The $400,000 T-shirt

For a …Last blog I mentioned a popular t-shirt being sold in Italy based on the shoutfest between an Italian coast guard captain and the cruise ship captain accused of abandoning ship. The tee costs about $16.50.

That's a reasonable price. T-shirts are meant to be cheap. Companies like Ed Hardy have made them fancy and charged you a bit more.

Well...Hardy is hardly expensive enough for those with so much money lying around they need to launder some with their laundry.

    Full story: The $400,000 T-Shirt

    What a dilemma.

Buy a house or this T-shirt?

    Lamborghini or T-shirt?

College and postgraduate school...or a really cool T-shirt?

The shirt's manufacturers, based in the UK, justify the cost by saying the tees are made from 100 percent organic cotton. Also, they claim the manufacturing process uses only renewable energy, like wind and solar, which reduces the shirt's carbon footprint by 90 percent. Oh, and there are also 16 diamonds sewn in, totaling nine carats.

Born Rich says the company's greener manufacturing process stretches out the time it takes to actually make a shirt to four weeks. Per shirt. But at $400,000, you just need to sell one a month to build up an IRA that would make even Mitt Romney jealous.

Not sure anyone's bought one yet, but what if you have buyer's remorse? Never fear! The tees have a one-year warranty. "However improper use, accidental damage, loss and theft are not covered by the policy." Better insure that thing. You don't wanna lose the shirt off your back.

Sad thing is, I bet someone will buy one just because they can. A fool and his money.....

Insulting and disgusting. I would slap those creators of that t-shirt dead in the face if I saw them on the street. I just hope they aren't too surprised when they lose money (as they rightfully should) from having such a ridiculous price imposed on a Target t-shirt with a "cool" design.

Do they think we're idiots? They are OBVIOUSLY just trying to sell one or a couple shirts off of a person stupid enough to buy this so they can make their lifetime's worth of money. So idiotic.

The company is based in the UK, genius. The article doesn't even mention the French. Anywhere.

What Zarah said! Nothing French about anything. Besides, it should have been *are not *is.

Diamonds or no, that shirt still isn't very attractive. Nah, I'd rather buy something more my style for that price, like a HOUSE.

Screw the T-shirt if I'm going to spend that much I will just buy the diamonds in a form that doesn't need to be washed.
    • Maddison  •  Jacksonville, Alabama  •  4 months ago
how do you even wash this shirt? i want to see the "how to wash" tag.

I could probably design the same t-shirt online and buy it for 20 bucks.

Even the diamonds are not even close to being worth $400,000. It's not desighned by some famous artist. So how do they justify the price? The diamonds probably fall of in the first wash.

Anyone who would buy this shirt would do so only to prove their status or wealth.
    • Abby  •  4 months ago
9 carats of diamonds. Where? I don't see anything sparkling in the picture. Also, why the heck would anyone drop $400,000 on anything short of a house?

Whoever buys this needs to be slapped...and slapped again...Rich Douchebaggery at its finest...

If that's the t-shirt it's not even original..TOOL is what I think when I see this.

Funny, I just checked out the website and whoever created the ad for this shirt should be fired. No way in hell anyone could take this seriously with such cheap advertising. There should be more ellaborate information on the diamonds and the wording sounds so amateur. Not descriptive, needs better photos, I've done a better job selling my daughter's used sneakers on ebay.
