Curvy means someone who has curves, not everyone who is plus size has them... just sayin.

thank you. im so tired of plus sized woman using the word "curvy" to describe their body type. for slender curvy woman such as myself, the word curvy is looked at as bad because its associated with fat woman. thanks fat woman for tarnishing a very sexy descriptive word for woman who are actually curvy and not bumpy.

All the curvy women are black according to this article :/

Anl, get over yourself. Curvy means curvy. Fat means fat. The two are not confused.

The problem is that if you have a plus-size body, you have to buy clothes according to your size. Many times I see plus-sized women in low rise jeans, and their muffin tops are hanging over (horrible)!

I used to weigh nearly 300, I now weight 145lbs, I am only 5'2". I wear size 12 pants even though I can wear size 8 depending on the brand, they are also midrise. I do not need my belly and underwear showing for any reason when out in public. How is it not embarrassing to women who have muffin tops and their panties showing?

I've seen girls who you wouldn't call big wearing pants tight enough to give them a muffin top. It's gross on anyone, regardless of size.

it is way over time people in the US -start looking at what is inside a persons heart and thier character and stops putting SO MUCH emphasis on looks

Some of these women are curvy. Some are overweight. Some are just plain obese. It's not the same thing. If your waist is about equal to your hips...you're not "curvy." Curvy means you have a waist that is substantially smaller than your hips and bust.

I think this PC terminology just confuses people. I buy the Gap "bold curve" jeans because I have a 25 inch waist and 37 inch hips. I am someone those jeans were meant for -- someone with hips substantially larger than her waist, who always finds regular jeans too big on top if they fit my curvy bum! But I heard a couple of girls with apple-shaped waists complaining about how they don't fit women with "real" curves. "Real curves" doesn't mean the shape of your belly, ladies! Or at least it didn't used to.

Agree totally and I'm a 14 petite. Wear your size.
      • BeauW 3 months ago
I agree wit you Susan. Curvy does not mean fat. I think truly curvy women (with well defined femine curves!) are pretty hot. For that matter I don't even mind a few extra pounds...but a beach ball shape just isn't attractive.

It's very, very confusing for the word curvy to mean "a skinny woman with an hourglass figure" AND "a politically correct way to describe a fat woman". Pick one or the other, please!
      • A Yahoo! User 3 months ago
Yes. So right. It's masked politically correctness to say both. Clearly written by someone who in truth considers a curvy woman too fat. I am all the rights of skinny women's right to be skinny without being called boyish for this. Usually people who call curvy women fat have some bad word for skinny women too. Oh well, how to spell it to them, that whatever size they may wear their ugliness shines through and it's blinding?

That's right, previous commentator below. Only fat black women are "curvy," fat white women are fat and we also don't know the answers to any philosophical question asked of us. We also don't know how to cook, we don't like "real music," we didn't invent "mac'n'cheeze" and we can't even figure out to clean our homes. We all need "Help."

ugh. curvy is curvy. fat is fat. i'm not saying that those of us with an inch to pinch need to walk around with tight clothes on. that's not attractive on ANYONE, not even skinny women. you look sick. on bigger women, it looks like you bought clothes that are too small or washed them in hot water. you don't look sexy. if your shirt fist a little tight, or your jeans are tight in the right spot, then fine. But i don't wanna see the dimples in your buttcheeks and all down your legs. I'm a curvy girl, who wears things that are loose, and comfy. i also have one tight pair of jeans and one tighter-fitting top. I look good in them, and so i wear them when i wanna feel sexy. don't judge a person based on how they dress. because you never know what their story is....

Why does this supposedly flattering dress have to be above the knee? Are we stuck with the mini forever, whether at 100 or 350 lbs? Above the knee makes everyone look wider. Just use your common sense, not what "male" designers have told us for 45 years to make women look ridiculous.
    • then some  •  3 months ago
Now this is a designer with some real talent! It takes no talent to wrap a thread on a bone but is takes talent, vision and class to wrap a woman! While we are trying to get back in shape we have a right to look good, not what some woman hater thinks is right.

Being Curvy does not mean that you can wear tight fitting clothes as well, a Curvy or plus size person should wear clothes that accentuate their figure.
    • Nikki  •  Franklin, Wisconsin  •  3 months ago
Just because you are curvy, doesn't mean you shouldn't wear tight clothes. Wear clothes that make you feel good about yourself. Then again when you are curvy, BLACK ALWAYS MAKES YOU LOOK GOOD!! OHHH YEAH :)

The first picture shows a girl in BRIGHT orange. Then a few pics later they show Jordin Sparks and they say to use muted tones. Hello?

Viola Davis is not curvy...and it would seem as if the only curvy people are black women? Adele, current Christina Aguilera, current Jessica Simpson, Mia Tyler (Steven Tyler's daughter) and then some. I haven't even touched the curvy hispanic women who represent themselves well.
