8 Style Secrets to Never Looking Fat Again Without Dieting

    By: Charla Krupp

Muffin tops … Jiggly arms … Buddha belly … Lovely Mother Nature did bless many of us with beautiful angles and curves, but sometimes, in some lighting and in some garments, these gifts can look a bit, well, exaggerated.

Nationally regarded style expert Charla Krupp has 1,000 tricks up her sleeve to looking slimmer - without dieting. From undergarments and dresses to nail polishes and high heels, Charla shares her time-tested secrets in her latest guide book, How to Never Look Fat Again (Springboard Press). When it comes to our bodies, Charla says, "It's not you; it's your clothes."

If you have a thick neck and broad shoulders: Give away your turtlenecks and donate those dangly earrings. Make the V-neck your neckline of choice, and most importantly, stand up straight and don't you dare hunch those shoulders!

10 Tips to slim down, without the gym

If you have arm flap: The quickest, easiest fix here is to NEVER go sleeveless while wearing pants or jeans. When baring arms, it's always better to wear a skirt or a dress; that way, everyone will be looking at your legs! (And if your legs are a problem, just click through a few more slides for solutions.)

If you have heavy calves: Stay away from leggings and short boots (and don't even think about wearing these two items together!) The best trick here is a new pair of shoes (that's right, I just gave you an excuse to go shoe shopping)! A pointy toe and some three-inch-plus stilettos and you'll be strutting those seemingly slim shins.

If you have a Buddha belly:
Stay away from elastic- or drawstring-waist pants and skirts. For a special occasion always reach for A-line or sheath dresses. And a tailored single-breasted jacket will look sharp, sexy and sophisticated over almost anything.

Counting Calories, Not Fad Diets, Helps You Lose Weight

If you have wide feet and ankles: Stay away from ankle straps and flats of any kind. Keep your ankles bare in a high heel the same shade as your leg and you'll look taller, thinner and better!

If you have wide hips and thighs: Can everyone say pencil skirt? Wear dark colors and straight lines on your bottom half. Stay away from pleats and side pockets and remember: micro-minis and shorts are only OK under the age of 25.

If you have a wide face: Add some body to your hair by never parting it down the middle. Then add some bangs and make sure to shape and groom those brows. You'll look thinner in minutes!

If you have a big bust: No. 1: Get the right bra. You should be fitted at least once a year and you should throw out any bras that are stretched out. A rule of thumb: only 100 washings - and that means by hand. Keep away from the washer and - worst of all - the dreaded dryer.

What really matter is having confidence in yourself irrespective of your size or what you wear. Go for whatever makes you feel good and sexy.

Why should women have to resort to these tricks? We come in many shapes and sizes. I’m thin (I eat plenty—thank you) and am proud of it. If I have a problem area I’m not happy with, I work on it. It’s that simple. But at the same token, I would not hide my imperfections—I would simply flaunt my strengths and not worry about the others. I think I’m sexy because I believe I am—not b/c I’m thin or wear the right clothes to hide my flaws. If you’re a fuller gal and want to wear shorts—wear them. But don’t put them on and then suddenly decide you don’t belong in the shorts. People can feel lack a confidence a lot quicker than they’ll see your imperfections.

I think it's all well and good to exercise and eat right, but I believe the point is that wearing clothes that make you look bad isn't doing anything for your self esteem. I read tips and things like this sometimes and some of it works, some of it doesn't. But wearing flattering clothing does almost as much as having a nice body (because skinny people can look fat if they wear something awful, and vice versa). It's hard to make a really fat person look thin, but if you're a little overweight or you just don't like your body image, you can work out, eat right, or start wearing better clothes--or all three!

Though I must admit, I'm still wondering how women find the time to hand wash their bras...

I loathe that women are not noticed for their brains, work , and successes in life instead of our clothing style, hairstyles, and figures AUGGHHH!

Do you EVER hear men publicly judge each other based on their clothing, bellies, ties or haircuts ?
      Or course not!!!
Stop permitting the media to intimidate us into quivering self conscious puddles.
This is why we are not the president!!!!! Yet!.....

I don't see how a side part with bags will make your face look thinner.

These are great tips but some are just not doable for me, like never go sleeveless, I live in Phoenix and it is impossible not to wear sleeveless shirts or shorts, sorry, I am 34 and still wear short shorts and if I still look good in them I don't care if I am not 25, in fact I think I look better in them than a lot of 25 year olds, when you take care of yourself I think you are allowed to extend that rule, so I think you are better of admitting you have some problem areas and work on them and wear whatever is most flattering.

This is ridiculous. It might work if you're a size 8 instead of a size 2, but it won't do anyone any good if they are actually overweight. You're not going to suddenly look thin if you're a size 18. That doesn't mean you can't look beautiful, but you can't look thin.

Bangs would make me look like a kid--chubby face and all. I want to be grown-up and professional. So, when I start losing weight I hope some of it comes out of the face and the legs (those are problem areas even more than my stomach I would say). Though I saw somebody on TV wearing a style that looked like it had been done with Bump-Its or something like that. She was so pretty! Now I want to try Bump-Its and see how it makes my hair look!

In addition, I have wide feet and I also have broad shoulders, and I am rather muscular, and not really fat but not really skinny. I am average, I guess, and saying to wear heels, with wide feet, I would fall to the ground easily and break my fat ankles....

      Thanks....

      Stupid article

I am a plus sized girl and I dont believe in "hidding all my imperfections". Even skinny girls have imperfections. I will flaunt what I have and I am proud of my body. I don't need people to tell me how to dress so I can feel better about myself. I rather have some meat on me, then to look like I haven't been fed for days. :)

this article is not forcing anyone to hide the way they are...if you don't want to you don't have to..BUT there are others who are not comfortable with say jiggly arms or a Buddha belly and these are simple tips to cover up something that will not disappear over night.....

as for hand washing...its not impossible...let them soak in a bucket of water with a gentle detergent for a bit then rinse and drip dry..takes a whole 5 mins of effort once a week....

I also agree with starfedra. I wear shorts and mini's all the time and am not under 25. In fact, today I'm an a V-neck tank top, shorts and heels. I feel like I look great, and haven't heard and anickers when I walk by! Wear what you feel sexy in, and you will be sexy!

Nothing and no one can limit you, except for yourself.

      Confidence = Beauty

Ladies, just be confident of how you look and everything else will follow.. :-)

I used to hand wash my bras, but stopped doing it and started using a lingerie bag in the wash and never putting them in the dryer, and they last just fine. I just threw out a sheath dress I had hanging in the closet because I felt it made me look FAT! As for muffin top, nothing remedies this except losing weight, which I'm doing. These low-waisted jeans suck, but I REFUSE to wear mom jeans! I will still wear well-fitting shorts, though I'm past 25. Dumb article!

I have to agree with the ladies, a LOT of looking good (not thinner = better) is being confident in what you wear, and in your own skin...if you feel sexy in a tank, shorts and heels....then you are going to look sexy. Why aren't there any articles out there about CONFIDENCE makeing women sexy....

I agree with the person that wrote the article. They are just tips for women who do have concerns about certain areas. If you feel good about your self, then you have nothing to worry about. Thanks again for your great feedback!!
