An Open Letter to Foundation Makeup

Dear Foundation,

It's be a tumultuously love-hate relationship from the start. I should have stopped seeing you long ago,but your alluring promises of perfect porcelain skin kept me coming back for more. There were days where we worked great together. Like when you made my ruddy complexion look even and glowy, but then the next day you would turn around and melt on me by lunchtime.

I can't entirely blame you for our dysfunctional relationship. I mean part of what went wrong should be blamed on my temperamental skin. My oily, sensitive, skin with it's humongous pores just didn't know how to interact with you. One moment you guys were on good standing (never entirely friendly) and then an argument would erupt. KAPOW, BLAM! Blackheads and whiteheads.

I really wanted it to work with you Foundation. I tried different brands, a myriad of formulas, I read the ingredients, I tried different applications (fingers, sponge, brush) and I even made sure to properly remove you at night. Nothing worked. I mean, it would start out good, usually the first week was awesome, but by the second week you and my skin were fighting again.

In case you haven't already figured it out, it's over. I don't see the need to prolong our relationship when it is obviously not working. We can still get together on special occasions when I want to look extra nice, but seeing you on a daily basis isn't good for my skin.

Best Wishes,

J
