Artist creates themed dress sculptures in all 50 states

We've always loved seeing dresses made out of unsuspecting materials. Robin Barcus Slonina is an installation and performance artist working on an ongoing project called "States of Dress." She has been touring the country constructing and modeling her unique dress sculpture in hopes to do one for all 50 states. Take a look at some of her recent creations, and see how they're made on her blog, State of Dress. [WhatTheCool]

So this is what passes for art these days?! This is ridiculous. The artwork is in the photography, not the so-called dresses. Most of these women pictured are not "wearing" anything. They are staged for a photograph. How does buying a bunch of used dresses and splicing them together make it anything but a bunch of used dresses put together. Let a little breast hang out the side to tittilate and suddenly it's art? I just don't get it!

Y.J are you an idiot?? These dresses arent being made for people to actually wear...they're not meant to be "high fashion"....clearly people arent going to be able to buy these dresses.

Its an artist working on a project to make dresses that represent each state...its art...not fashion.

Excellent concept, but maybe some states are not represented accurately. Driving through Iowa, it was like driving through a cornfield, much like driving through a mountain of Colorado.
But, great idea for Art, love it!
