    The history behind the name: Way back when in 1863 a French man named Alexandre Napoleon Bourjois came to the rescue of Parisian actresses when he created "the world's first powder blush." His invention, Pastel Joues, (today, their Bourjois Signature Blush, $12) was much more comfortable to wear than the heavy, greasy stage makeup the women were used to and it caught on like wildfire. less

    I've spent far too many moments cowering at Sephora, too shy to ask for some of my favorite products and I'm sick of it. Why should I have to spend the extra five minutes searching the aisles, refusing help, just because I'm too proud to admit that I can't pronounce some cockamamie name?

    Since I'm nothing if not a woman who's constantly evolving, I have decided to check my ego at the door and finally figure out how to pronounce all those tricky-to-say beauty brand names. Bonus factor? I also learned some of the history behind those brands. Ready to evolve too?
