I made a vow this Spring to step out of my neat and comfortable little style box and try new things. I've never been a slave to trends but you can never really knock something until you try it right? So far I've tackled the White Out Trend and the Prepster Look but as for my beauty regimen, it's been pretty much status quo.

So to shake things up a little bit I wanted to try a bold lip color, a beauty trend that is totally hot right now. Now some may not see it as a big step but for me, letting my lips take center beauty stage terrifies me! LOL. I can get bonkers with eyeshadow all day long but my collection of lip glosses are your standard browns and pinks that are only meant to give my lips just a hint of color. That's it! I guess I'm afraid I'll look like a clown rocking a bold color! But I'm stopped being chicken and gave it a whirl and I must say, I'm getting used to it!

If you're like me, here are some tips to help you at least try this trend out!

You're eye color should be neutral but not boring!

On a good day, I can wear up to three colors of eyeshadow so toning my eyes down is a true feat for me! But if you're going to rock a bold lip color, you can't have your eyes competing for the spotlight. Toned down doesn't mean boring though! You can use a shimmery base like this one I used from NYX to give your natural eyeshadow color a bit of shimmer. I also added some winged liner and black masacara to keep things interesting but not overworked.

Give those cheeks some glow!

Your cheeks don't have to blah either! Use a nice cream blush to give your cheeks a little color to give you a nice, healthy glow.

Okay, bring on the lip color!

Red is about as bold as I could get! I was fortunate enough to have a lip gloss that gave the same deep, pigmented color of a lipstick. It's much easier to apply, especially when you can use the tip of the wand as a liner. If lipstick is more your speed, make sure you have a liner when using this color because red lipstick does tend to bleed! If you want to experiment with other colors, a really good place to try before you buy is Sephora. That way you can see how a color looks on you before you part with your money!

Now don't be scared! You can do this! J

A rundown of the products I used:

Medium Coverage Liquid Foundation from Mary Kay

Shimmery Eye Shadow Base from NYX

Shimmery Brown Eye Shadow from the Studio Endless Eyes Pro Mini Eyeshadow Palette from e.l.f

Doe-Eyed Eye Liner in black from Sephora

Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara in black from Estee Lauder

Covertible Color Cheek Cream from Stila in Poppy

Avon Perfect Wear Lip Gloss in Apple

Here's my take on the look! What tips do you have for rocking a bold lip color?
