Making sure you use the right products for your skin is key. No matter how much great make up you put on, if the skin under it isn't taken care of, chances are you will not get the look you want! You also want your skin look great on those days when you just don't feel like wearing anything (that's Saturday and Sundays for me!)
So for this review, we're taking a look at the RESIST Anti-Aging Skin Care Line from Paula Begoun, the awesome lady that gave us tips on dealing with acne prone skin, finding the right foundation as well as the Ten Makeup Commandments. Though I'm not showing any signs of aging (and don't plan on it anytime soon!), I've learned that it's easier to prevent them then to correct them once they're already there. Granted, you don't have to go crazy but using products with some anti-aging ingredients definitely helps keep the young skin you already have.
This skin care line consists of:
- Optimal Results Hydrating Cleanser
- Barrier Repair Moisturizer *
- Advanced Replenishing Toner Skin Remodeling Complex *
- Daily Smoothing Treatment with 5% Alpha Hydroxy Acid *
- Weekly Resurfacing Treatment with 10% Alpha Hydroxy Acid
- Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum *
- Remarkable Skin Lightening Lotion with 7% AHA
- Clearly Remarkable Skin Lightening Gel with 2% BHA
Out of all the products I had available to try out (those denoted with a little starry thingy!) the products I found myself using the most was the moisturizer and the toner. The Smoothing and Resurfacing Treatments as well as the Serum were cool and easy to use, but I'm the girl who is always running around in the A.M and sleepy as all get out in the P.M so I try to keep my skincare routines as simple as possible! So, let's talk about the moisturizer and the toner, shall we?
RESIST Advanced Replenishing Toner ($18.95)
I normally don't use toner in my skincare routine so I was curious to see if it made a difference at all (and if my skin likes it!) The Antioxidant-rich formula aims to have your skin feeling soft while producing the collagen it needs to stay firm and reduce wrinkles. My skin did feel soft right after using it which I was surprised because others that I've used tended to dry out my skin. I found it really helpful to use at night because it helped get rid of any makeup that my remover/cleanser missed that I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. A little of it gets the job done, making it quick and easy for a busy girl like me!
RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer ($22.95)
This gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer comes in an easy to use, pump action bottle. It's formulized to help build (and keep!) your skin's collagen as well as help it resist wrinkles. I really liked this moisturizer because it seemed perfect for my combination/oily skin. You only needed a finger tip sized amount of it and after applying it, my skin felt soft and not greasy! It absorbed quite nicely and quickly - which I need especially in the morning because I always wait for my moisturizer to set before putting on foundation. I didn't experience any breakouts or any initial inflammation, which sometimes happens when you use a product your skin isn't used to! Gotta love that, right?!
