Can Soft Soap's Body Butter Strawberry Smoother Get My Dry Rough Ready for Springtime?

This month I am test driving Soft Soap's Body Butter Strawberry Smoother (whew that's a mouthful). The product promises a rich lather, natural exfoliating beads and a delicious fragrance, does it deliver or is it still rough around the edges, read on and see.
Packaging: So the initial impact of the packaging ( I am a sucker for packaging) was impressive; the curved bottle fit naturally in my hand and the lid was easy to flip open, even with wet soapy hands. The creamy pink concoction inside mixed with raspberry flecks (exfoliating beads). The whole presentation of the product is designed to call to mind a strawberry smoothie (yum! Yes please).
Fragrance test: On the label fragrance is the fifth ingredient in and I was expecting an overwhelmingly sweet, headache inducing aroma. However I was pleasantly surprised to find that not only could I tolerate the scent, I even found it pleasing. It doesn't smell like strawberries though, some generic berry, mixed with vanilla was as close as my sniffer could come to pinpointing the fragrance. The fragrance of the body wash was pretty apparent when sudsing up, but didn't linger on the skin post- shower.
Skin check: My skin for the most part is dry to normal excepting on my face and back, which can be oily irritated and yes broken out. I have battled the dreaded "bacne" for the last decade or so and am always hesitant about trying new products on the skin on my back. Initially I was just going to test the body wash on my legs and arms, but I thought I could provide more insight to the Shine readers if I bit the bullet and tried it on my back. The state of my back prior to using was what I would term slightly broken out, my concern was that either the fragrance or the coconut oil (read potentially comedogenic) would increase my back breakouts. I used a mesh bath sponge with the body wash which I found provided the optimal amount of lather and increased the rate of exfoliation. Over the course of the month I would check whether my skin felt dry and tight or supple and moisturized after exiting the shower. For the most part I found my skin was on the dry side after using the body wash rather than feeling adequately hydrated. I would always feel the need to moisturize immediately after getting out of the shower. I did feel that my skin was smoother on my legs and arms, I am not sure whether this was a result of the natural exfoliating beads in the wash or the mesh sponge or maybe a combination of both. Well, I bet you are all wondering how my back fared through this experiment. I honestly did not notice any change, for better or for worse on my back. I still occasionally broke out, there were weeks my skin looked fine, but that was normal for me. I would suggest that those with sensitive and acne-prone skin proceed with caution on this one.
Final Verdict: So what say I. The good points on Soft Soap's Body Butter Strawberry Smoother is the packaging is fun and the scent is yummy, the lather is rich and frothy and it did exfoliate my ashy winter skin. The downside is that it left my skin feeling tight instead of "helping to retain your [my] natural moisture", also I am not sure what the effects to my back would be if I continued to use it. The product is reasonably priced at around $4, so it's a cheap way to feel a little indulgent even if it doesn't deliver on all it's promises.
