Kate Upton ‘Not Thrilled’ About Victoria’s Secret Photos

Supermodel Kate Upton is not happy with Victoria's Secret. The famous lingerie company printed an old photo of Upton in its new catalog after one of its stylists Sophia Neophitou publicly insulted her. Neophitou, who works with Victoria’s Secret on its annual fashion shows, told the New York Times last year that Upton would never walk the runway because her look was “too obvious.”

“Kate is not contracted to work with Victoria’s Secret and was not notified before the images were used. The images were taken in 2011,” a source close to Upton told Yahoo! Shine. “Kate is not thrilled with Victoria’s Secret using these photos.” A rep for Victoria’s Secret also confirmed to Yahoo! Shine that the photos were from 2011.

Back in February 2012, when Upton was mostly known for her Guess campaigns, swimsuit modeling, and YouTube videos, Sophia Neophitou, a well-known fashion stylist who has helped cast past Victoria's Secret fashion shows, told the New York Times that, given Upton’s résumé, the potential for her to work in high fashion was slim. "We would never use" Upton for a Victoria's Secret show, she said. "She's like a Page 3 girl," (referencing the classically curvy women often featured in The Sun, a British tabloid). “She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy.”

Upton responded to Neophitou's comments by telling Access Hollywood, "Which is fine, because I didn’t even try out for their runway show. I don’t think anything she said is that mean. She wanted to out go and buy my face, that’s fine, go buy it! I didn’t. I’m doing fine in my career, I don't need to walk down their runway."

The photos circulated the Internet on Tuesday after Buzzfeed reported that Upton was featured on the back cover of the latest Victoria’s Secret catalog modeling a black bra from Body by Victoria's Secret. There was also buzz as to whether Upton would possibly become the next Victoria’s Secret Angel.

Upton, no stranger to critiques about her appearance, told Vogue in its June issue, “The things that they’re rejecting are things that I can’t change. I can’t change my bra size. They’re natural! I can work out and I can stay healthy and motivated, but I can’t change some things. I really just live my life. I love my body. It’s what God gave me! I feel confident with myself, and if that inspires other women to feel confident with their bodies, great.”
