We know airbrushing and retouching happen all the time in ads today, but what about just using someone else's body altogether? That may be the case with the new Baby Phat fragrance ad featuring designer Kimora Lee Simmons. The former model has gained a curvier figure in recent years as a mother of three, and those who have seen her new ad for Dare Me are questioning her head was pasted onto a younger, slimmer model's frame. A new discover may have proven she did exactly that.
The photo on the above left is the March 2005 cover of French Vogue featuring Daria Werbowy. She is wearing a Louis Vuitton outfit that looks awfully similar to what Kimora has on in her ad. But in comparing these two photos, there appears to be more in common than just the same pair of shorts.
When the Vogue cover shot is flipped, we see that the way these legs are posed is virtually identical. In fact, they just may be the very same gams. Look at the angles in knees and the way the hips are cocked to one side. Yes, the print on the shorts may have been slightly altered, and the slingbacks may have been transformed into pumps, but is that a clever enough disguise? Looking at these shots side by side, we're pretty convinced that Kimora borrowed Daria's leg for her fragrance ad.
Kimora told WWD that the "message with this fragrance is empowerment and self-reliance." It would be pretty ironic then if Simmons upgraded her body with the legs of another woman.
This isn't the first accusation of a woman claiming a model's body as her own. Remember the controversy surrounding Demi Moore's W cover? The actress adamantly denied that her lower half was stolen from someone else, but the cover shot looked highly suspicious. We'll see if Kimora Lee Simmons issues a similar statement about her ad.
