Hermès CEO Jean-Louis Dumas, a fellow passenger, kindly offered to create a more practical leather bag. Victoria Beckham has a collection of them reportedly worth $2 million. But the muse herself owns only one: "They're bloody heavy!" Birkin once told a reporter.
