Fashion that Makes Us Sad: Floating Shoes

We love flats. We love heels. But we're confused by flats that are magically converted into heels with clear plastic. Enter Jeffrey Campbell's Upend and Float wedge heels. They're like the mullet of shoes: business up from party in the back.

Upend is a black oxford shoe with a Lucite heel that sells for $174.95. They're currently sold out on Solestruck.com but Karmaloop has a few pairs up for grabs. Float is a lace-up jelly shoe also with a Lucite heel. available in green, black, or clear plastic selling for $144.95 on Solestruck.com.

Think they're absurd? A rip off? Here's where we must mention that these Jeffrey Campbell clear heeled shoes are direct knockoffs of Simone Rocha's designs, which sell for $1,075 at Opening Ceremony. Someone manufacturing these shoes at a mass market level so many women can (and unfortunately will) buy them? Now that really makes us sad.
