File under "No Surprise": Sarah Palin is still wearing her campaign clothes

Photo courtesy of the Associated PressPhoto courtesy of the Associated PressYou know, you can call me a jerk for pointing this out, but it looks like Governor Sarah Palin has not made good on her promise to return the incredibly expensive wardrobe she wore on campaign trail. At least not the fancy jacket she had on today at a rally in Savannah, Georgia (which appears to be the exact same piece she donned on a campaign stop in Pennsylvania on October 18th).

Now, I realize this is super petty. But the woman said she was returning all of the clothes. She made it abundantly clear that this $150,000 wardrobe was not her property and that she would be donating anything she could still find to charity. So...what's up? I mean, I understand. I would want to keep the nice clothes too. I would think it's dumb that they have to go to charity and I might even hold onto them even after I said I'd give them away. But keeping clothes that aren't yours and not getting caught requires skill. It's like when I stole a sweater from my sister and made sure I never wore it when we were going to see each other. But, then, one time, I forgot that it was her sweater and she saw it and got completely pissed and I had to give it back. It's like that, except with $150,000 worth of clothes, fame, lots of cameras, and a public lie.
    Hmmm.

"On the hopes of not starting a war over this - the RNC has stated that Ms. Palin HAS NOT returned any of the clothes purchased including those she claimed she left in the belly of the plane, therefore she will be required to pay the tax on the WHOLE $180.000. The RNC has no reason to lie since they were REQUIRED to report it on their FEC reports. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that is the way it is"

The RNC has made NO such statement. Quite the contrary, they have long since said that Palin did indeed return the clothes.

"Here is the proof that she is a repository for hate:

Sarah Palin's attacks on Barack Obama's patriotism provoked a spike in death threats against the future president, Secret Service agents revealed during the final weeks of the campaign. The attacks provoked a near lynch mob atmosphere at her rallies, with supporters yelling "terrorist" and "kill him" until the McCain campaign ordered her to tone down the rhetoric"

Really? Secret Service revealed? Thats news to the Secret Service:

      Headlines from Oct. 2008:

"Secret Service says "Kill him" allegation unfounded"

"Secret Service: “Kill Him” Comment At Palin Rally Did Not Happen"

      So much for your proof.

Why do Palin supporters keep asking the same questions instead of either A. reading this blog where the answers to their questions have already been posted or B. looking up a few news articles on their own to answer their redundant questions?

As for Michelle Obama's innauguration dress and the dresses for their daughters, they will most likely be donated by the designer. Even if the dresses are donated, the Obama's will still have to pay taxes on them.

The innauguration ball isn't just a fancy party for the sake of having a fancy party. This is where the president and his family are introduced to the world. It is a POLITICAL EVENT.

Why are the majority of the comments so protective of S. Palin? When actors/actresses are the victims of malicious gossip, the majority seem to eat it up. Free speech, remember!! If Romolini erred in the fact that she noticed Palin was still wearing clothing that she promised to return, she would have to post a retraction. Don't you think she did her research before making the observation? I agree, there are more important issues to report on, but that was her choice. One always has the freedom of choosing what one reads. Apparently the article was of interest to everyone who chose to read it.

I must concede, though, that there is not proof that this jacket you refer to is part of the clothes purchase w/campaign funds.

You must be pretty jealous of Sarah Palin. I bet if you asked her to borrow that jacket she would probably let you. With all the problems that are going on in the world, you have nothing better to do than nick pick over an article of clothing that this woman is wearing. Why don't you do something productive like......come up with a plan to get the financial condition of the USA straightened out. You need a life.....a real one.

Why don't you just ask her about the darn jacket? Do a Full story!!! I thought this whole bias news reporting ended when Obama became president! And you call yourself a reporter. Shame on you. Where are your credentials. I'm sure you learned that through journalism 101!!

I must concede, though, that there is not proof that this jacket you refer to is part of the clothes purchase w/campaign funds.

Browneyed - it has been proven that the jacket everyone is discussing was indeed purchased with campaign funds and it is listed on the RNC expense report at $2500 along with all other items purchased. Furthermore, the RNC has stated this jacket along with all other items purchased WERE NOT returned as Ms. Palin stated, therefore making her liable for the taxes on the whole $180,000.

Thank you, Sunshine. I hope your mom is resting well.

As soon as Sarah Plain arrived on the national political scene, she invited scrutiny. I was one of many millions who watched her acceptance speech at the RNC and just could not connect the dots. I did my own research and was not impressed and quickly realized that Sarah Palin has learned well , over the years, to work Ponzi schemes. Her political background is very shady and punctuated by mini scandals. Those scandals have been discussed here at length.

Sarah delivered one of the best convention speeches in history. That speech was written by writer Mark Sculley, who continued to write abbreviated speeches for Sarah on the camapaign trail until he became frustrated and quit.

After that, there were many discreptancies in what she said off the cuff and reporters took notice. The clothing wardrobe came at the worst time for John McCain. He was trying to woo the working class with Joe the Plumber and there was Sarah, off script and rambling wildly, and with no Mark Sculley to keep her in check... and wearing designer clothing, and sending aides to purchase more. Even after the story broke, Sarah sent two females aides with credit cards to an Ann Taylor store in Reno. ( Denver Post)

To date there is no evidence that she has returned any clothing or donated it to charities. Wiley Rein and lawyer Jan Baran, advisers to Republican candidates, continue to advise the Palins they will be forced to comply with tax laws. The clothing was to be worn during the Presidential campaign only... not after. Recent photos show she is wearing that jacket... or one exactly identical to it. Very odd.

It should also be noted that not all RNC donors are happy with this fiasco. “As a Republican Eagle and a maxed-out contributor to McCain’s general campaign, I’d like my money back – he can still have my vote,” complained one irate donor .

“I’m not one who says a candidate shouldn’t wear fine clothes,” he added. “I’d just like to think they were successful enough in the private sector to have afforded their wardrobe with their own money, not the party’s or the campaign’s, which is really our money as contributors.” ( Politico)

The Palins reported an income of $250,000 last year. It is my opinion that the RNC donor is making a valid point and I believe that Sarah has a closet in Alaska of extremely lovely , totally free high end clothing for herself and her entire family.

Another Ponzi scheme by the master.

Sarah C - I am far from jealous of Sarah Palin - I think she is a disgrace to women everywhere. By the way, I would not need to ask her to borrow a jacket she was not entitled to, I would go buy my own, with MY MONEY and not contributions from unsuspecting donors who had no idea their donations would be used to clothe Sarah Palin and her family for two months to the tune of $180,000. Also, I have a life, a real life -I am a wife, a mother and a SMALL BUSINESS OWNER and for the record our country would not be in this financial mess if not for a bunch of greedy money hungry war mongering republicans who felt it was in the best interests of their wallets to protect the rich and the large corporations on the backs of the hard working lower and middle class of this country.

Hey thanks Springtime. I understand that it was suggested to her that she borrow these clothes. I guess we still want to convince each other . LOL . Seriously, I am bowing out of this fight now because I think the stress was literally making my mom sick. She is much better today . I think she has plurisy and she has a fever. She is going to the doctor on wednesday. I am going to gear up for some new battles I have planned as soon as she is better. PEACE

Extreme Pettiness from an obviously small mind. Talk about something with meat...Like the folks 'down South' willing to testify about what they know regarding 9-11 and Obama trying to put a stop to it before they, (or he), even get started...Now, maybe you can risk your job and do some real investigative reporting. But no...so much safer to stick to petty jealousies, lies and moot subjects.

I am a voter, an American, etc...I don't vote for someone just because I like (his)(her) clothing. For God's sake, what has this world become??? I really think 99.9% of the media needs to find different jobs...

      "she would stop lying"

      She hasnt lied about anything.

"and pony up the money to reimburse the RNC for these stupid clothes or she would make a statement, saying she will pay the taxes due - AND PAY THEM."

She doesnt owe any taxes on the items since she doesnt own them. She doesnt need to reimburse the RNC since she didnt get to keep them. They were on loan to her, she gave them back, and thats that.

"As a Christian, I despise hypocrites; they make me sick."

As a Christian, you shouldnt go around calling people hypocrites and liars especially when they are not. And Palin is not. You're allowing your politics cloud your Christian judgement.

"Palin cannot be an outright liar,"

      Which she is not.

      "a repository for hate,"

      Which she is not.

"one who does not pay her taxes"

      She does pay her taxes.

"and yet, be a Christian simply because she says she is pro life."

And you cant call yourself a Christian if you;re going to mischaracterize people to be things they are not just to justify your hatred of them.

"Her hypocrisy overshadows practically everything she does and says."

She is not the hypocrite. You are. You are the one who calls her things she is not. You're the one so consumed with hatred of her, that you practically dehumanize her. That you willingly lie about her.

CJJ, so glad to see your posts.

If Jimmy Two Shoes and his conspiracy wing nuts have so much to testify about, why haven't they been given the opportunity to do so? Perhaps it's because like that moron who just got his bogus case against Obama not being a native born citizen thrown out of court, Americans are tired of idiots wasting our time and our money.

I wonder, however, what Jimmy Two Shoes and his conspiracy pals know about the spam attack that's currently being waged against this site over at the "Palin Snubbed Oprah" blog. (I also wonder how long it will take Shine/Yahoo to pull their heads out of their butts and put a stop to it.)

Sunshine Lady - The only way Sarah Palin would be punished for anything is if she keeps the clothes and does not report them on her taxes. Please take care of your mom. CJ

I have to agree with "Defiant", Sarah Palin is definetly totally unprofessional and wore jeans to one of the press conferences!!! She knows absolutly nothing about politics or anything about EVER being Vice President. She is hillbilly trash and tries to front when it comes to any competency regarding politics!!! We are very lucky she is out of the spotlight!!!
