Gap-Toothed Women All the Rage: Are Imperfections In?

elisabeth mosselisabeth mossHave you noticed? Gap-toothed celebs and models are popping up and flashing their not-so-perfect smiles. Yes, imperfection is in!

    The Wall Street Journal
says gapped teeth was one of the most coveted characteristics at New York's fashion week. Seems kind of odd, doesn't it?

It's long been supermodel Lauren Hutton's signature look. But now gap-toothed models are representing high-end brands like Chanel and Marc Jacobs and flashing their pearly whites -- gaps included -- in magazine spreads in Vogue and W.

It's catching on in Hollywood, too. We've gotten used to David Letterman's and Madonna's gaps after seeing them for years. But now it seems trendy to see high-profile gap-toothed stars like Anna Paquin of the vampire series True Blood and Elisabeth Moss of Mad Men.

Oh, and guess what else is in demand this season? Tattoos, piercings, and scars.

It seems designers and casting directors are looking for more originality in looks. Some say it's because the younger generation craves authenticity in this digitally enhanced world in which we live.

Does this mean all the perfection created by airbrushing, Photoshopping, and other means of the digital age are out? Will models gracing the covers of magazines show their cellulite, bulges, and wrinkles?

Somehow I doubt it. But it's nice to see imperfections accepted.

Do you like seeing imperfections in models and celebrities? Or would you rather they be covered up?

I hate photos of models with funky teeth, they are distracting! What is so great about ugly teeth?
      I don't even notice what they're modeling.

What is her imperfection in the picture? She doesn't have gapped teeth.
