Here's some good news: you can never use enough mascara or false lashes for photos (makeup artist Lori Hamlin's words, not ours). Why? She says playing up your eyes will help you look glamorous without looking like you're wearing a lot of makeup. For a dramatic effect, apply at least three coats of volumizing mascara to your lashes from base to tip (try Revlon Fabulash Mascara, $5). Also, apply eyeliner right on your lash line and in between your lashes to further define your eyes, says makeup artist Marissa Nemes. less
The best part of my job is getting to go on Facebook every day. (Since my boss is probably reading this, here's a disclaimer: it's not all I do at work, I swear.)
Let me explain. One of my duties is to post status updates on Beauty Riot's Facebook page. So that means I get to ask fun questions, such as "Do you wash your hair every day?" and post follow-up stories like The Dirty Hair Challenge: We Survived a Week Without Washing Our Hair. Fun, right?
But I can't say it's all that fun when I'm on my own page, mainly because I HATE my profile pic -- and stress every time a new photo of me pops up. (I'm a pro when it comes to untagging.) And since I don't have a professional hair/makeup/stylist/photographer, it's up to me to get a great Facebook photo.
So, I read up on these celebrity photoshoot secrets and these red carpet styling tricks. Along with expert interviews, I took the info and created my own tutorial on how to get an amazing Facebook profile picture.
I'll admit: putting together this tutorial was so much fun, I couldn't believe it was actually considered "work" (see why I love my job?).
