Anja Koppitsch/iStockphotoBeachy waves are a number one favorite hairstyle during the summer, but why forget about this look in the colder months? With Halloween approaching, tousled tresses are a great finishing touch for costumes like a mermaid, Gossip Girl's Serena van der Woodsen or Sasha Fierce herself.
Here's how to create waves that will last all through the tricking and the treating.
- Find your inspiration. Copying a celebrity's look will give you more of an idea of the type of wavy style you're pining for. Look at their face shape, hair texture, and length to see if their hairstyle will work on you.
- Start with a base. If your hair has a wave pattern to it already, using a shampoo and conditioner formulated for wavy hair will create the foundation for luscious locks.
- Add texture. This can be done with products or by rough-drying hair with your fingers and a hair dryer.
- Have the right styling tools. If your hair is pin-straight, create waves with a curling iron and a flexible holding spray.
