Hmmm. McCain spends more than $5,000 to get his makeup done

Photo: APYou know, I'm guessing I'm not alone in this, but I'm feeling really, really FREAKED THE F*CK OUT by what's going on with the economy. For the past few days I've been dreaming/nightmaring about bailouts and golden parachutes and what's happening with my WaMu account (not to mention my 401K--I'm afraid to look). Basically, because I don't really understand how money works, I feel like in the next year I'm going to lose all of my teeth, beg on the street and carry all of my belongings in a bandanna wrapped around a stick. I'm terrified.

And then a story like this comes out: According to the Federal Election Commission, John McCain recently paid American Idol makeup artist Tifanie White $5,583.43 to apply cosmetics to his face for a TV appearance. Seriously? Does he really need to get his nose powdered by the same woman who puts on Paula Abdul's lip gloss? Is this how much he spends every time he gets TV ready? What constitutes $5,000 worth of makeup for a man? Don't they just use all one fleshy color? Is there blush involved? UGH.
Now, please understand that my outrage is not partisan. I would absolutely feel the same if I heard Obama was dumping thousands of dollars on foundation. But the whole thing seems gross and egregious and completely out of tune with what's going on in the country. Also? I think maybe I should've been a makeup artist. Source: Us Weekly
