I have Learned to Dress like a Rock Star for Less!

I am not a fashionista in any way but sometimes my girlie side takes over and I want to "shine". I figure that I must not be that bad because everyone wants to look his or her best, the problem is that my pocketbook doesn't always love me for it.

In spite of my limited funds I have learned to, "wear it like a rock star" when I need to. I have become a Flea Market hound. I sniff out bargains at the local market every Saturday and Sunday. I have come across some serious jewelry, along with arts and crafts there. The jewelry is usually costume stuff but vintage and the crafts items I can use them to punch up my current wardrobe. Bangles, baubles and charms can be easily sewn into old clothing and I have become pretty handy with a paintbrush and stencil. One of my greatest finds was a 'new' pair of Jordache stretch denim jeans. I discovered a small tear in one of the pant legs and could not figure out how to repair them, as I happen to have limited sewing skills. My solution was to break down an old charm bracelet from the flea market and strategically sew the link pieces across the rip. It worked out perfectly and I got lots of compliments, no one had ever seen a pair like that before. What was my total bill for the project? The jeans were purchased from a local thrift store from the rack (the .99 cents on Monday rack!), the charm bracelet was .50 cents (I still have several charms left) and the price of the needle and thread. My new, 'me designed' rock star jeans cost under $2!
