Kanye West and Bret Easton Ellis's unlikely friendship first became public knowledge this summer, when West released an American Psycho homage as part of his promotion for Yeezus and also remixed the trailer for The Canyons. Then, in November, West was the guest on the debut episode of Ellis's podcast. The two chatted films and fashion and Breaking Bad, decidedly pedestrian topics for two of the most outsize personas in all of entertainment.

We'd known since an Ellis interview over the summer that the duo was collaborating on a film script, but now, thanks to an interview with Vice, we have more details. Ellis said he couldn't give them much in the way of specifics, but he did reveal that this movie will be inspired by Yeezus.
"[West] came and asked me to write the film," Ellis said. "I didn't want to at first. Then I listened to Yeezus. It was early summer last year and I was driving in my car. He'd given me an advance copy, and I thought, regardless of whether I'm right for this project, I want to work with whoever made this. So f--k it, I said yes. And that's how it happened. That was seven or eight months ago. We'll see what happens."
A Yeezus-inspired movie! More albums should spawn movies! We want a Red-inspired film starring a tearful Rachel McAdams and a contrite James Marsden; a Prism flick starring a defiant Hilary Swank; a Bangerz movie featuring Chloe Sevigny chewing bubblegum. Given the intensity of Yeezus as an album, we can only guess the film will take place in a boxing ring or on a hovercraft. Though, if West has his way, it'll likely just be comprised of 80 minutes of Kim Kardashian eating a salad or something.
