Kate Middleton's Favorite Boots—You Can Own Them!

Josh Duboff

Duchess Catherine of Cambridge. Future Queen of England. A party supply heiress who landed herself the most eligible bachelor in all of christendom. She's got a lot going for her. And she's just plain got a lot. But that doesn't mean that she wears a new outfit or a new pair of shoes every day.

In fact, she owns a pair of boots that we may be able to now deem her favorite (favourite?) boots, because she has been seen wearing them on multiple occasions. Us Weekly identifies them, in what is said to be a style post but sorta reads like a sponsored post but I'm gonna take their word for it, as Aquatalia Rhumba boots, which retail for around $700 at fine bootsellers like Bergdorf Goodman.

Duchess Kate has been seen wearing them on at least three occasions, so she must be very enamored of them. They're not remarkable boots to look at in any way, really, so they must just be very well-made. They're able to handle the cobbled streets of London, have been sturdy when used on the insolent backsides of scullery maids, have even weathered the muddy fields of Wales, where Kate stood many a time, watching William putter off in his helicopter, on the way to some grand mission. And she was left there down below, in the mud and the cold, no one to keep her company but her boots. "It's just you and me, boots," she used to say as she tromped off back to her little Welsh cottage.

But these days she's got the baby, and the apartment in the palace, and sometimes she is so busy that the boots feel ignored. Kate will wake up in the morning and find the boots lying at the foot of her bed. "William, I swore these were in my closet last night," she'll say. If you look closely, you can see the boots in the corners of photographs of the Duchess at various public appearances, as if the boots are following her. Once she walked into the nursery and, to her horror, the boots were right next to the "You get away from him, boots!" Kate cried.

But despite all that ominous stuff, she still wears them. Because she loves them. "I love you, boots" she now says after each time she wears them, careful to lock them up in the special cabinet she had built for them, sure that they can't get out, though sometimes she'll awake with a start to hear them, all leather and wood, rustling in the night.
