It looks like the Sesame Street crowd isn't alone in finding Katy Perry's cleavage offensive--her own mother is currently shopping around a book about her disapproval of her daughter's lifestyle, and she's taking aim at Katy's famously risqué wardrobe.
Page Six got their hands on a copy of the book proposal, in which the pop star's evangelical preacher mom, Mary Perry Hudson, discusses her distaste of everything from husband Russell Brand to racy song lyrics that are having a negative effect on her Christian ministry. Here's how she evaluates Katy's style, recalling an incident backstage at a concert: "Katy stepped out from behind the changing doors in a tiny risqué costume. No mother wants to see the top of her daughter's boobs . . . My first instinct was to order her back behind those doors and demand she put something else on . . . However, I had no problem letting my eyebrows say what I wouldn't allow my mouth to utter."
She says her memoir "is not Christian proselytizing or a Katy Perry tell-all," but this little excerpt sort of tells a different story.
What do you gals think of her mom's decision to speak out publicly against her daughter's way of life (and her wardrobe!)? Do you think it's appropriate for her to be shopping a book around (ie, attempting to make a profit) about it? Do you think her stage costumes and red carpet style have helped make her an international star, or would she be just as big if she toned down the outfits? What would your own mom make of you hitting the stage in some of the things Katy wears? Discuss!
